1204 Denman Street

1204 Denman Street was on the east side of Denman Street, south of Davie Street.

The available fire insurance plans do not show an individual building with this address.

A 1929 reference said that the location was “one door from Davie Street.”

There was a small one-storey building attached to the south wall of 1200 Denman Street, and 1204 Denman Street seems to have referred to that building.

From the mid-1930s to the 1940s, a café and a confectionery were at 1204 Denman Street.

In the 1930s, Knud Jensen was the operator of the “Beach Lunch” café at 1204 Denman Street.

From the late 1940s until the mid-1950s, the east side of the 1200 block of Denman Street was vacant, and it operated as a parking lot.

Berkeley Tower

In 1958, a developer built the Berkeley Tower apartment building on the site. (The address is 1770 Davie Street.)
