Louisa died in 1848. Everson married Ann Elizabeth Gunton in Yarmouth on February 8, 1852. (She was born about 1818 and died possibly in 1892).

In 1871, Alfred was living with his parents in Yarmouth.

In 1887, in London, England, Alfred married Harriett Workman. She was born on May 7, 1863, in London. Her father was Richard Workman; her mother was Mary Ann Wicker.

By 1891, Alfred and Harriet were living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, along with their oldest daughter, Rosalie Irene Chasteney. Alfred was working as a cashier for a mortgage company.

It appears that Harriet (and perhaps Alfred) went back to England for some time, because their son, George Gunton Chasteney, was born in London, England in 1892.

By about 1893, Alfred and Harriet returned to Winnipeg. Their daughter, Vera Adeline Chasteney, was born in January 1895.

By 1899, Alfred was working for the Canadian Mutual Loan company in Winnipeg, and was living at 182 Edmonton Street.

In 1901, Alfred and Harriett were still living in Winnipeg. Alfred was an agent for the Canadian Mutual Loan and Savings Company.

From about 1904 to 1907, Alfred was in a real estate business with Nelson Moore Keele (1854-1919). It appears that Alfred moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver in mid-1907.

Alfred first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1908. His occupation then was “retired,” although he soon began to work as an accountant and clerk. He lived at the following West End addresses from 1908 to 1922:

1908 1147 Pacific Street
1909 1172 Pacific Street
1910 and 1911 1020 Denman Street.

John C. Illman, http://www.ptleader.com/news/community_record/obituaries/john-c-illman/article_efadab40-cfb3-11e2-a12c-001a4bcf6878.html; “John C. Illman, of Nordland, died on May 20, 2013, at the age of 91. He was born in Seattle on Oct. 17, 1921, the only child of Alpheus M. and Helen Schumaker Illman. After the fourth grade, the family moved to Vancouver, B.C., where his father was stationed as a U.S. Immigration Inspector. He graduated from Magee High School in 1938. While living in Vancouver, he was a paper boy and a drummer in an all-city boys band, the Kitsilano Boys Band.  The band spent the summer of 1936 touring the British Isles, playing three concerts a day at various summer resorts and festivals. The band traveled to San Francisco as representatives of the province at the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge.

After graduating from high school, he and his mother moved to Seattle where he enrolled in the University of Washington, majoring in Chemistry. During his college years, he was a member of the University Symphonic Band. The summers of 1941 and 1942 he enrolled at the Friday Harbor Laboratories, working as a deckhand/sea water analyst on the research vessel Catalyst, and as a janitor while working on his Master’s research. At Friday Harbor he met his future wife, Marjorie Kincaid. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in December 1941 and a Master of Science in June 1943.

Immediately after graduation, he and Marjorie were married, on June 15, and they moved to California and a new job at Shell Development Co. in Emeryville. There he worked on a government contract to develop a new plastic for the radomes of Navy bombers, and later on many other projects, ranging from solid rocket propellants to detergents.

Their three children were born in Oakland, and grew up in the East Bay communities of Albany and El Cerrito.

His hobby for 60 years was the photography of trains in action. He had hundreds of pictures published in hobby magazines and books.

He retired from Shell in 1972, when the laboratories moved to Houston, and worked for Shaklee Corp. until finally retiring in 1976. He and Marjorie sold their house, took a 10-month trailer trip around the country, ending in March 1977, when they built their house on Marrowstone Island, where they have resided ever since. During their retirement, they traveled extensively in this country, Europe, Asia and South America.

He was active in the affairs of the island community, serving as president of the Nordland Community Club (now the Marrowstone Island Community Association, MICA) on several of its committees, and as a member of the Jefferson County Planning Commission. In 1986 he was chosen as the MICA Citizen of the Year.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; three children: Karen Miller (Ed), of Corvallis, Ore., Marilyn Malpica (Jaime), of Bogota, Colombia and Richard (Becky) of St. Charles, Ill.; grandchildren Kenneth Miller, Owen Miller, Robin Miller, Carlos Andres Malpica and David Malpica; and great-granddaughters Ana Malpica and Luna Miller.

A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Nordland Garden Club. Private burial will be in the Nordland Cemetery.”
