Baron Helmuth Emanuel Edwin Bernhard Dirckink-Holmfeld was a landscape and figure painter. He lived at 1842 Beach Avenue in 1906 and 1907.

Baron Dirckink-Holmfeld was born in Denmark on August 12, 1835. His parents were Constant Peter Heinrich Maria Dirckink-Holmfeld and Anna Susanne Kinkel de Castonier.

He trained at the royal art academy in 1855.

From 1863 to 1874 he travelled in Germany.

He went to Greenland in 1886.

In 1893 he had a studio in Montreal, Quebec, where he taught painting and painted his own landscapes and portraits.

In 1897 he was in Seattle, Washington.

In 1899 he went on a voyage to Alaska, along with several representatives of Seattle’s business class.

He later painted a series of landscapes based on his trip to Alaska.

In 1901 he was planning to open a studio in Montreal.

He seems to have retained a presence in Seattle, but he was also in Vancouver for a period during the early 1900s. He painted a landscape of English Bay in 1904.

He died in Seattle on September 11, 1912.

He was buried in Portland, Oregon.

Margarethe died on November 15, 1933.

Helmuth and Margarethe had two children, Julie (born July 7, 1871) and Constant (born May 1, 1875).
