Batey, Robert Bruce (1875-1945)

Robert Bruce Batey (sometimes called “R. Bruce Batey”) was a manager for Western Life and Assurance Company. He lived at 2043 Pendrell Street in 1913 and 2046 Pendrell Street in 1914 and 1915.

 

Early Life

Robert Bruce Batey was born on April 11, 1875, in California, possibly in San Francisco. His parents were David Batey (1849-1930) and Georgiana Williams (1838-1927).

On September 18, 1898, in Mount Vernon, Skagit County, Washington, he married Millie M. Walker. She was born in Canada about 1880.

In 1910, Robert and Millie were living in Seattle, Washington.

 

To Vancouver

In 1913 and 1914, Robert was working in the insurance business in Vancouver. In 1913, he was living at 2043 Pendrell Street. In 1914 and 1915, he was at 2046 Pendrell Street.

 

To Oregon

In 1918, when Robert registered for the United States military draft, he and Millie were living in Marion, Oregon.

Mille died in 1923. She was buried in Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, Orange County, California; Plot: Lawn W.

 

Marriage to Emily Miller and Later Life

On October 9, 1926, in Santa Ana, Robert married Emily H. Miller. She was a stenographer who was born in Minnesota about 1889. Emily’s parents were from Norway:  her father was Hans Amberson; her mother was Rose Johnson.

In 1930, Robert and Emily were living in Santa Ana.

Robert died on September 20, 1945, in Sedro Woolley, Washington State. He was buried in Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, Orange County, California; Plot: Lawn W.

Elizabeth Batey

Elizabeth Batey was born in Washington State about 1900.

 

Eloise Frances Batey

Eloise Frances Batey was born in Bellingham, Washington on February 16, 1902.

On February 20, 1920, in Vancouver, Washington, she married Wesley Mearl Gray. This marriage ended in divorce.

On October 9, 1926, in Santa Ana, California, Eloise married Fred Fidel Eyraud. He was born on May 10, 1902 in Puente, California. His parents were F.F. Eyraud and Marie Echamendy, both of whom were born in France.

In 1940, Fred and Eloise were living in Bakersfield, California.

Fred died in Riverside, California on October 13, 1981.

Eloise died in Riverside, California on March 16, 1993.

 

Alven D. Batey (possibly also called Donna A. Miller)

In the 1930 United States census, Robert Bruce Batey and Emily H. Miller had a daughter, Alven D. Batey, who was born in California about 1920. This appears to be Donna A. Miller, who was born on February 17, 1920, in Los Angeles.
