Christopher Hunter Allan was born in Campsie, Stirlingshire, Scotland on April 13, 1874. His parents were Alexander Allan (1847-1926) and Agnes Walker (1841-1906). Alexander and Agnes were married in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland on November 29, 1867.
Agnes Walter Allan died in Nelson, British Columbia on March 27, 1906.
Alexander Allan died in Vancouver on August 15, 1926. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
To Canada
The Allan family moved to Canada about 1881.
They were in Winnipeg, Manitoba for about six years.
Later, they went to the Souris region of Manitoba.
They were in Whitewater, Manitoba at the time of the 1891 Canada census.
To British Columbia
The Allans moved to Nelson, British Columbia about 1896.
Alexander Allan was the caretaker of the Nelson city cemetery.
By 1897, Christopher Allan and his brother, James, were working at the Nelson Saw Mill Company in the City of Nelson, British Columbia.
In 1898, Christopher and Alexander Allan appeared in the 1898 British Columbia voters list. They were both living in Nelson. Christopher was a builder and Alexander was a carpenter.
Marriage to Maud Russell
On September 15, 1898, in Nelson, Christopher married Maud Harriet Russell. She was born in Lancaster, Ontario, on April 11, 1878. Her parents were Franklin James Russell and Matilda Edgar.
To Vancouver
By 1906, Christopher was in Vancouver, living at 34 8th Ave.
From 1907 to 1908, he was working for Union Realty Ltd., and he was living at 823 Park Road.
By 1911, Christopher, Maud, and their children were at 566 17 Ave. West, along with Christopher’s father, Alexander.
Christopher died in Vancouver on February 23, 1939. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
Maud: Later Life
On May 30, 1942, Maud married George Vertigan. He was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England on November 26, 1877. His parents were George Vertigan and Anne Rankin.
George had been married before, to Emma Kaye (or Kay).
Emma died in Vancouver on September 9, 1941.
George and Maud lived in Vancouver through the 1940s and early 1950s.
George died in Vancouver on March 27, 1956.
Maud died in North Vancouver, British Columbia, on February 5, 1964. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery.
Christopher and Maud had the following children.
Cecil Douglas Allan
Cecil Douglas Allan was born at Nelson, British Columbia on February 2, 1900.
In 1911 and 1921 he was living with his parents in Vancouver.
In the early 1920s, he began travelling to the United States.
Cecil married Lucy Johnston. She was born in Ontario on April 24, 1902.
Cecil and Lucy were in Corvallis, Oregon in 1930 and 1940.
In 1943, Cecil became a naturalized United States citizen.
During the Second World War, Cecil registered with the United States military draft system.
In 1945, Cecil and Lucy were living in Corvallis.
Cecil retired in 1964, after working 40 years with Standard Oil Company.
Cecil died in Arizona in March 1979.
Lucy died in Arizona in October 1994.
Cecil and Lucy had two daughters.
Burndeen Gloria Allan
Burndeen Gloria Allan was born in Beaverton, Oregon on May 17, 1926.
In 1947, she married Don J. Swanson.
Burndeen died on July 21, 2001.
Cecil Jean Allan
Cecil Jean Allan was born on August 4, 1928.
She married Charles Herbert Clipper, who was a Marine veteran. He was born in New York on February 7, 1917.
Charles was the director of the United Way in Reno, Nevada. He died on January 9, 2002.
Cecil died on July 3, 2016.
Russell Franklin Allan
Russell Franklin Allan was born in Vancouver on April 9, 1908.
He was married to Frances Bradley.
Russell died in Burnaby, British Columbia, on August 24, 1985. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
Frances died on December 8, 2004.
Glen A. Allan
Glen A. Allan was born on February 27, 1912.
He was living in Vancouver in 1921, 1939 and 1964.
He died on September 9, 2001. He was buried in Hatzic Cemetery in Hatzic, British Columbia.

She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Terry); her sister Annie; brother Jim (Jean); 8 grand children; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; daughter Pat; 2 husbands, and 8 siblings. Frances was born in Moosejaw Sask., and moved with her family to Vancouver when she was 1 3 years old. She was active in the Grandview Corps for 73 years. A Memorial Service will be held on December 1 8th at 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Corps in New Westminster at 325 6th St. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Salvation Army.”
