Trounce Family Background

Nina Marian Trounce was born on July 30, 1875, in Bickleigh, Devonshire, England. Her parents were William Henry Trounce (1852-1888) and Elizabeth Vivian Davis (1849-1887).

Nina’s grandfather was Samuel Phillips Trounce (1822-1876).

Nina’s parents were married in St. George Hanover Square, London, in 1874. (William Trounce was often called “Harry,” and Elizabeth was known as “Bessie.”)

In 1881, William and Elizabeth were living in Menheniot, near Liskeard, Cornwall, along with Nina, her sister, Caroline, and her brother, Henry.

In the mid-1880s, Nina and Caroline stayed in England while their parents went to live in Saskatoon in the North-West Territories, where they had at least three other children. Saskatoon was then the site of the Temperance Colony of Nutana.
