John W. Phillips was a contractor. He lived at 1905 Beach Avenue in 1913 and 1914.

It appears that he lived at 1372 West Pender Street in 1915.

There is little other confirmed information for him.

A Possible Connection

A retired contractor named John William Phillips died in Burnaby, British Columbia, on December 15, 1957. He may be the same person as the one who lived at 1905 Beach Avenue.

John William Phillips was born in Liverpool, England, on July 29, 1880. His father was Thomas Phillips. His mother was Catherine Jane Moss.

John was married to Sarah Daniels. She was born in Everton, Liverpool, England, on September 6, 1875. Her father was John Joseph Daniels. Her mother was Sarah Pattinson.

In the early 1900s, John and Sarah were living in Gordon, a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

They arrived in Canada about 1910. Several of their children were born in British Columbia.

Sarah died in New Westminster, British Columbia, on November 17, 1957.

John died in Burnaby, British Columbia, on December 16, 1957. He was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby.

John and Sarah had the following children.

John Gordon Phillips

John Gordon Phillips was born in Gordon, New South Wales, Australia, on April 25, 1905.

On August 10, 1935, in Vancouver, John married Norah Patricia Gilbert. She was born in Vancouver on March 29, 1911. Her father was Andrew McFadyen. Her mother was Jeannie Ross. (Norah had been married before, on August 29, 1931, to Thomas Gilbert. He was a hardwareman who was born in Toronto, Ontario, about 1907. His father was Robert Francis Gilbert. His mother was Annie McCulloch. This marriage ended in divorce on May 7, 1935.)

John worked as a furniture merchant.

John’s and Norah’s marriage ended in divorce. (Norah died in New Westminster on March 5, 1979. She was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.)

John later married Mary Robin Adair. She was born in Vancouver on February 16, 1913. Her father was Thomas Adair. Her mother was Olive Peppin.

John died in New Westminster, British Columbia, on February 8, 1973.

Mary died in New Westminster on July 31, 1983.

Harry Douglas Phillips

Harry Douglas Phillips was born in Gordon, New South Wales, Australia, on January 10, 1907. He worked as a salesman and merchant.

On June 29, 1934, in Vancouver Harry married Dorothy Garnet Corrine Beaton. She was born in British Columbia (possibly in Vancouver) on January 18, 1913. Her father was Donald Neil Beaton. Her mother was Mary Caffery.

Harry died in Vancouver on November 30, 1971.

Dorothy died in Burnaby, British Columbia, on April 16, 1979. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby.

In 1921 he was living with his parents.

In 1955, he was married to Marjorie. He was a salesman for Phillips Radio and Furniture.

Terrence died in Surrey, British Columbia, on May 11, 1988.

Patricia A. Phillips
