Campbell, Ivan Glen (1869-1949)

Ivan Glen Campbell (usually known as Glen Campbell or I. Glen Campbell) was a physician. He lived at 2000 Nelson Street from 1906 to 1949.

He was born in Montreal, Quebec, on March 27, 1869. His father was Robert Anson Campbell; his mother was Sarah Angelique Melville Hall.

He went to the University of McGill, where he obtained degrees as a Doctor of Veterinary Science and a Doctor of Medicine: later, he went to the Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital. He arrived in Vancouver about 1899, where he set up a practice as an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist.

On July 28, 1920, in Burnaby, British Columbia, Ivan Glen Campbell married Helen Kathleen Davis. She was born on January 1, 1893, in Montreal, Quebec. Her father was Robert Colborne Davis (1857-1904); her mother was Fannie Christine Duncan (1858-1929).

Ivan Glen Campbell died on September 27, 1949, in Vancouver.

Helen Kathleen Campbell died in Vancouver on September 25, 1877.

Ivan Glen Campbell and Helen Kathleen Davis had three daughters. It appears that none of them was married.

Jean Angelique Kathleen Campbell was born about 1921. She died on October 27, 2002, in Vancouver.

Margaret Amelia Campbell

Margaret Amelia Campbell was born in British Columbia, probably in Vancouver. She died in 1992.

Barbara Glen Campbell

Barbara Glen Campbell was probably born in British Columbia. She was still living in November 2002.

As a youth, one of the fastest milers in Canada. After McGill and Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital, came to Vancouver in 1899. Established Vancouver Medical Association (president, 1906-07). Hospital on October 27, 2002 at age 81. Predeceased by her sister, Margaret Amelia (1992). Jean is survived and greatly missed by her sister, Barbara Glen Campbell, as well as cousins, Sharon McLeod and daughter, Meghan (Vancouver), and Ross McLeod (Lisa) and daughter, Melanie (Toronto). A memorial service will be held at St. Philip’s Anglican Church, 3737 West 27th, Vancouver, Tuesday, November 5 at 11 a.m. A private family interment service will be held later at Mountain View Cemetery.
