Melville Charles Hamilton was born on September 24, 1878, in Doveridge, Derbyshire.
His father was Charles James Hamilton (about 1841-1917), who was a clergyman. Charles had gone to Harrow School and Trinity College at the University of Cambridge.
Charles James Hamilton married Alice Catherine Macnaghten in London, England, on June 14, 1870.
Charles died at Walton-on-Trent in Derbyshire on November 15, 1917.
Alice Catherine Hamilton died at Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, on May 10, 1919.
Melville Charles Hamilton
Melville arrived in Vancouver about 1910. On June 18, 1910, in North Vancouver, he married Dorothea Mary Rogers.
Dorothea was born in 1883 in Penkridge, Staffordshire, England. Her father was George William Rogers (1848-after 1911), who was a brewery manager. Dorothea’s mother was Emily Lea Blencowe (1853-possibly 1945).
By 1911, Melville had a livery stable at 837 Park Road. In 1911 and 1912, he and Dorothea were living at number 2, 1974 Georgia Street.
They did not appear in the Vancouver directories after 1912.
By 1915, Melville was a temporary lieutenant in the British military.
It appears that Melville died in 1945.
No further information is available for Melville or Dorothea.
