Henry Joseph Sharp was a clerk in the land registry office of the Vancouver court house. He lived at 1970 Georgia Street in 1901 and 1902, 1974 Georgia Street in 1903, 1008 Denman Street in 1904, and 1961 Comox Street in 1905.

Henry travelled to Canada about 1883. According to the 1901 Canada census, Phyllis did not move to Canada until about 1890.

Henry lived in Winnipeg for some time. He was an instructor in the local military school, and he took part in the Riel Rebellion.

In 1891, Henry was with Alexander H.B. Cochrane and Company, a firm of general commission merchants, mining brokers, contractors and hardware in Golden.

In 1911, Daisy and Cyril were living in Vancouver. Sometime after 1911, their marriage ended in divorce.

On October 4, 1930, in Vancouver, Cyril married Edith May Holman. Her parents were William Holman and Jane Bond. Cyril died in Vancouver on September 1, 1953. It appears that Edith died in 1982 in Walsall, Staffordshire, England.

On October 14, 1925, in Santa Rosa, California, Daisy married Gerald F. Hall.

Gerald and Julia Hall appeared in the 1938 directory for San Diego, California.

Vera Mary Sharp

Vera Mary Sharp was born in Golden, British Columbia, on May 3, 1891.

On March 30, 1914, in Vancouver, she married Thomas Allen Bonner, who was a construction superintendent. He was born in Niles, California, on September 9, 1886. His parents were James Thomas Bonner and Frances Celia Mayhew.

This marriage ended in divorce. Thomas died in San Mateo, California on January 5, 1960. (Vera and Thomas had a son, Robert Thomas Bonner (1914-1983).)

In the 1920s Vera worked as teacher in a business college.

On November 30, 1925, in Orange County, California, Vera married Lawrence M. Olson, who was a cleaner and dyer. He was born in Illinois about 1897. His parents were Niles Fritz Olson and Maria Colarina. This marriage ended in divorce.

On August 6, 1932, in Los Angeles, Vera married Joseph Nye Peters. He was born in Byesville, Ohio, on February 24, 1883. Joseph Nye Peters and his first wife, Margaret Bell, had a daughter named Phyllis Ann Peters. She was born on February 9, 1921. She married Theodore William Herzberg (1916-1957). Phyllis died in Palm Springs, California, on July 26, 1988.

Vera’s marriage to Joseph Peters ended in divorce. Joseph died on September 21, 1940 in Los Angeles County, California.

On May 6, 1943, in Los Angeles, Vera married John C. Mock. It appears that he was born on March 10, 1902, in Glen Campbell, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

Vera died on March 29, 1970. She was buried in Avalon Cemetery in Avalon, California.

John died on February 8, 1989. He was buried in Avalon Cemetery in Avalon, California.

 

Emmeline Sharp

In 1891 she was living with her parents in Golden, British Columbia.

Harry Eric Sharp

Harry Eric Sharp was born in Vancouver on August 26, 1892.

He worked as an electrician.

On November 7, 1914, he signed his attestation papers to serve with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He served with the 29th Battalion.

He later worked as a men’s wear salesman.

He did not marry.

He died in Vancouver on November 27, 1965. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

 

Lionel Charles Sharp

Lionel Charles Sharp was born in Vancouver on October 7, 1896.

On February 3, 1916, he signed his attestation papers to serve with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War.

In 1919, in Brentford, Middlesex, England, Lionel married Kathleen Elizabeth Adams. She was born on London, England, on July 14, 1897. Her father was Fred Adams.

Lionel worked for the British Columbia Telephone Company until he retired in 1962.

Kathleen worked as a women’s wear sales clerk. She retired in 1963.

Kathleen died in North Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 21, 1968. She was buried in Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Lionel died in White Rock, British Columbia, on July 27, 1970. He was buried in Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver.

“Harry Sharp is Dead!” Vancouver Province, September 7, 1915, page 14: “From old-timer to old-timer the word was passed this morning and always in that tone that indicates the passing of a friend. The death of Mr. Henry Joseph Sharp occurred at his residence, 821 Burrard street, on Sunday, but owing to yesterday being a holiday the sad new did not spread broadly till this morning. Mr. Sharp, having been for many years chief clerk in the land registry office, in which capacity he made friends by the hundred because of his unfailing courtesy and his knowledge of the workings of the office. He was the son of Mr. Henry J. Sharp, who is still known in the commercial world of London, Eng. On coming to Canada he first settled in Winnipeg where he was well known in military circles and immediately after the Riel Rebellion in which he served, he came to Vancouver. He leaves, besides a widow, two daughter, Mrs. C.H. Boycott and Mrs. T.A. Bonner, and two sons, Harry Eric, who is with the 29th Battalion, and Lionel, who is at home. The funeral service will be held at the family residence tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., Rev. H. Beacham officiating.”
