Edward Kimberley was a carpenter. He lived at 2052 Beach Avenue in 1908.

Ezera Edward (“Ned”) Kimberley was born in Arnprior (or McNab Township), Renfrew County, Ontario, on February 14, 1870. His parents were William Kimberley (1833-1913) and Sarah Ann Judson (1836-1915).

On December 18, 1899, in Stewartville, Ontario, Edward married Eva Buchan McAdam. She was born on June 25, 1878, in White Lake, Ontario. Her parents were William McAdam and Margaret McIntyre. This marriage ended in divorce, probably between 1911 and 1914.

 

Eva’s Life after Divorce from Edward

On April 25, 1914, in Oak Bay, British Columbia, Eva married John Allan McLean, who described himself as an engineer and a bachelor. He was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on May 27, 1874. His parents were Farquhar McLean (1835-1916) and Margreta McBain (1847–1885).

John died on August 24, 1918, at Essondale, British Columbia.

At the time of the 1921 Canada census, Eva was living at 880 East 41st Avenue in Vancouver, along with three girls who were listed as her daughters: Jean (age 13), Eileen (age 5) and Helen (age 4). Also living there was George Lyons, a 40-year-old longshoreman from New Brunswick.

On September 10, 1921, Eva married George William Lyons, a dredgeman and logger. He was born on January 23, 1873, in Doaktown, New Brunswick. His parents were James Thomas Lyons and Elizabeth Bruce. (George had been married in Vancouver on December 8, 1917, to Mabel Estella Myers (née Riley) This marriage had ended in divorce.)

George died in Vancouver on November 11, 1951.

Eva died in Vancouver on March 18, 1957.

 

Edward’s Life after Divorce from Eva

On September 18, 1918, in North Vancouver, Edward married Lila (or Lilla) Gregory (née Brazee). She was born in Lisbon Center, New York, on July 18, 1858. Her parents were Horace and Mary Brazee.

Lila had been married before, to Philip Edwin Gregory. The marriage was in London, Ontario, on June 27, 1888. Philip died in North Vancouver on October 21, 1912. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

After Edward’s and Lila’s marriage, they lived in the Vancouver area until the 1950s.

Lila died in Vancouver on January 26, 1954.

Edward died in Coquitlam, British Columbia, on December 9, 1959.

 

Edward and Eva Mcadam had the following children.

 

Edward Alvin Kimberley

Edward Alvin Kimberley was born in Revelstoke, British Columbia on July 9, 1904.

In the 1920s and 1930s he was a building contractor.

On August 25, 1923, in Vancouver, he married Helen Gertrude Elizabeth O’Donnell, who was a dressmaker. (She was often called “Gertrude.”) She was born in Getchell, east of Marysville, Washington, on June 26, 1905. Her parents were Daniel James O’Donnell and Agnes Augusta Meyers.

In 1940, Edward began working with British Columbia Telephone Company. He retired in 1969.

Gertrude died in West Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 22, 1996.

Edward died in West Vancouver on February 8, 2004.

 

Evelyn Buchanan Kimberley

Evelyn Buchanan Kimberley was born on January 6, 1906.

On January 6, 1928, in Vancouver, she married William Thomas Fisher, who was a clerk. He was born in Magog, Quebec, on May 1, 1904. His parents were Arthur Heath Fisher and Ellen Partington.

In August 1928, William and Evelyn were living in Monterey Park, California, when their son, William Heath Fisher, was born.

In 1933, William became a naturalized United States citizen.

William died in Los Angeles County, California, on March 18, 1949.

On November 26, 1955, in Seattle, Washington, Evelyn married Donald C. Weston. He was born in Seattle about 1908.

Donald and Evelyn were living in Seattle in 1959.

Donald died in King County, Washington, on October 5, 1981. He was buried in Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Lake Forest Park, Washington.

Evelyn died on September 15, 2000, in King County, Washington.

 

Jean Myrtle Kimberley

Jean Myrtle Kimberley was born in Vancouver on August 13, 1908.

She worked for a time as a nursemaid.

On February 14, 1925, in Vancouver, she married William Clarence Jones, who was a stock clerk. He was born in Vancouver on May 14, 1904. His parents were Stephen Jones and Elizabeth Anderson.

William died in Vancouver on August 9, 1970.

Jean died in Vancouver on April 4, 1985.

 

Eva Mcadam and John McLean had the following children.

 

Eileen Margaret McLean

Eileen Margaret McLean was born on August 23, 1915.

She died in Alameda County, California, on January 23, 1996.

 

Helen Rosabelle Lyons McLean

Helen Rosabelle Lyons McLean was born in Vancouver in 1916.

She worked as an office clerk.

On July 14, 1940, in Vancouver, she married Leonard Alexander Cunningham, who was an automotive electrician. He was born in Vancouver on September 6, 1914. His parents were Walter Maltby Cunningham and Jean Hazel Johnstone.

Leonard served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during the Second World War.

In 1948, the Cunninghams began to live in West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Leonard died in 2000.

Helen died on January 26, 2005.

Ed was born in Revelstoke on July 9, 1904. Predeceased in 1996 by his beloved Gertrude, his wife of 73 years, “The One Rose That’s Left in my Heart”. Both were longtime residents of Marpole, Dundarave, and Woodcroft Apts. and lately Inglewood Care Centre. Ed attended Central and Queen Mary schools in North Vancouver from 1911 – 1918. He worked in North Vancouver Shipyards as a youth and was a self-employed building contractor with his Father Ned in Marpole during the 20’s and 30’s. Then in 1940 Ed joined BC Tel, retiring in 1969 as Building Operations Superintendent. Ed will be missed and lovingly remembered by their 3 children, Don of Courtenay, Nonabelle Dow (Doug) of Grants’ Pass, Oregon and Lila Jacques (Roy) of Delta. Ed is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one of his sisters, Helen Cunningham as well as other relatives. No service by request. Ed also requested that special thanks be given to his granddaughter, Andrea Jacques for the years of driving, shopping and “lunch out”. The family extends appreciation to Drs. Les Janz, Tom Calder and Ken Woo, and all the helpful and loving staff at Inglewood Care Centre, West Vancouver; Karen, Rosemary, Mike, Antonio, Daveena, Debbie, Myrna, and Allison to name a few. Passed away peacefully at the Lions Gate Hospital with his loving family at his side. Born in New Westminster on September 6, 1914, where his family were pioneers from the 1880’s, he became associated with the automotive industry at an early age – advancing to become President of Western Warehouse Dist. Mr. Cunningham served with the R.C.E.M.E., in the Canadian Forces, and was stationed in Ottawa to supervise the production of his invention, ‘Cunningham Cam Angle Gauge’. His brother, Ted, was lost at sea in the mid-Atlantic during the escort duty by the Canadian Naval ship ‘H.M.C.S. Margaree’ in September 1940. While in Ottawa, he wrote articles for the Canadian Army Motors magazine, in conjunction with Len Norris and his cartoons.
