George William Richardson was a real estate and insurance broker. He lived at 1891 Barclay Street from 1907 to 1909.

George William Richardson was born on March 24 (probably about 1859) in Middleborough, Massachusetts. His father was Samuel Richardson, who was a clergyman. George’s mother was Florence Haire. (George’s brother, Harry Alden Richardson (1862-1923), became the general manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia.)

George travelled to British Columbia about 1893, and formed a business in the Kootenay area of British Columbia with R.J. Bealey. (Robert John Bealey (1855-1928) lived at 891 Chilco Street in 1910.)

About 1896 George moved to Rossland, British Columbia. At first he was the Rossland representative of the company.

On June 29, 1898, in Trail, British Columbia, George married Ada Margaret Munro. She was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia about 1872. Her father was Hugh D. Munro (born about 1837), who was an excise officer. Ada’s mother was Susan (born about 1838).

George carried on his business in the Kootenays until about 1905. He first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1906. He was living at 1070 Georgia Street. He was in business with John Binns Johnson (1862-1933), who lived at 1890 Comox Street from 1909 to 1913.

George lived at the following addresses in Vancouver.

1906 1070 Georgia Street
1907 to 1909 1891 Barclay Street
1910 and 1911 1337 Comox Street
