Arthur married Ada Lucy Purnell. She was born in Bristol, England, on August 8, 1874. Her parents were Walter Purnell and Elizabeth Full. It appears that Ada had been married in before, to Albert Somers; this marriage occurred in Bristol in 1892. Ada and Albert Somers had a son, Albert Phillip Somers, who was born in Bristol in 1894. It appears that Albert later became known as Albert Phillip Jenkins.

Walter Purnell (father of Ada Lucy Purnell)

Ada Blackmore from Palmerston St, Bristol; Bristol_and_Somerset-L Archives; http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/Bristol_and_Somerset/2002-10/1034547464: “ I have recently found an old letter written to my grandfather, I’m unsure of the date. In the letter his niece refers to an Ada Blackmore of 1 Palmerston St, Bedminster, Bristol, England. also aunt Alice. My grandfather is Richard Thomas Purnell. His parents were Walter Purnell and Elizabeth Full and grandparents were John Purnell and Hannah ?. . . . [response]: In 1923, Walter Blackmore was living at 1 Palmerston Street, Bedminster, Bristol. You don’t give any dates or place for your PURNELL family, so I am assuming that your great-grandparents were mill sawyer Walter PURNELL, 46, and Elizabeth PURNELL, 46, who were living at 35 East Street, Bristol St. Paul In, at the time of the 1881 census. Children in their household were Elizabeth, 15, Hannah, 13, John, E., 11, Wiliam H., 8 and 6-year-old Ada L. Birthplace for the father was Moulton, Somerset, while that of the mother and children was Bristol. In the 1891 Barton Regis census this PURNELL family is at census reference 1972 3 134, which indicates the areas of St. James & St. Paul Out or Horfield. Walter, 56, Elizabeth, 57, Allison, 27, Elizabeth, 25, John, 21. Could Allison be Aunt Alice, I wonder? In 1881, it looks like she was an 18-year-old servant in 1881 at 22 Cotham Brow, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol in the household of widow Annie SPILLER, aged 56, Her name was spelt Alison with one l in the 1881 census.”
