He arrived in Canada about 1910, and by 1913, he was in Vancouver. He worked in the catering department of the Hotel Vancouver for about 35 years, until he retired about 1945.
Herman was married to Frances Whiteford. She was born in England on April 17. 1874. Her father was George Whiteford.
By 1925 Herman and Frances were living at 3636 West 16th Avenue, where they continued to live for the rest of their time in Vancouver.
Herman died in Vancouver on March 24, 1955. He was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Frances died in Vancouver on January 10, 1959. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby.
Herman and Frances had a son, Henry Gunther.
