Norman, Wilfred Ernest (1893-1946)

Wilfred Ernest Norman was a banker. He lived at 1831 Pendrell Street in 1919 and 1920.

He was born on October 21, 1893, in Snaresbrook, Essex, England. His parents were Wilfred Waller Norman (1867-1935) and Evelyn Maud Milburn (1867-1954). Wilfred Waller Norman was a bookkeeper.

Wilfred came to Canada about 1911. By 1912 he was at 1932 Manitoba Street in Vancouver. He was working as a clerk at the Merchants Bank in Vancouver.

In 1913, he was at 233 West Sixth Avenue, along with his parents and other members of his family.

In 1914, he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force to serve during the First World War. (His father and his brothers, Douglas and Leslie, also enlisted.)

He married Edith Martha Simons (perhaps in 1916), who was born about 1891 in England.

From 1917 to 1918, he was in Vancouver, working as a clerk with the Merchants Bank.

In 1919 and 1920, he was at 1831 Pendrell Street.

By 1920, he was the branch manager of the Merchants Bank.

By 1930, he was a farmer in Langley Prairie. He continued to live in Langley Prairie through the 1930s and early 1940s.

He died in Langley on March 29, 1946. He was buried in the Legion Plot in the Murrayville Cemetery.

Edith went on a ship to New Zealand in August 1946, probably for a visit with her daughter. She also went on ships to or from New Zealand in 1950 and 1955.

Wilfred and Edith had two children.
