Iago, Beatrice Emmeline Mary (1880-1969)

Beatrice Emmeline Mary Iago was a stenographer who lived at the rear of 2051 Pendrell Street in 1919.

She was apparently born in Islington, Middlesex, England on May 10, 1880. Her father was Charles Thomas Iago (born about 1849 in Devonshire). He was a wood engraver who patented a method of photo-engraving in 1885. Beatrice’s mother was Maria Jane Harris (1848-1915). Charles and Maria were married in Islington, London, on October 8, 1873. The family was living at 55 Riversdale Road, Highbury, Middlesex, in the 1880s.

Maria Jane Iago and her daughters came to Canada in 1910. Charles Iago apparently stayed in England, because he was in Paddington, London,  in the 1911 census of England and Wales. He appears to have died in Paddington district in early 1914.

Maria, along with Lillian, Maude, and Beatrice first appeared in Vancouver in 1911, living at 538 Carl Avenue (later called Princess Avenue).

Maria Jane Iago died in Vancouver on December 2, 1915.

On April 20, 1927, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Beatrice married John William York Jarvis. He was born on February 26, 1859, in London, England. His father was John William Jarvis; his mother was Martha Emms.

John William York Jarvis died in Vancouver on April 8, 1935.

It appears that Beatrice later lived in Quesnel, British Columbia. She died in Prince George, British Columbia, on November 2, 1969.

Beatrice had three older sisters.

Kathleen Maria Iago

She was born on September 25, 1874, in Hackney, Middlesex. On January ???, 1911, in Vancouver, she married John Edwin Evans, who was a customs broker living at 1129 Pendrell Street.
