Thomas Morrison Henderson was a druggist who lived at 1844 Barclay Street from 1911 to 1913.

Thomas was born on May 22, 1857, in Beauharnois, Quebec. His father was William Henderson (1814-1896), who was an accountant.

Thomas’s mother was Euphemia Fortune (1814-1882).

When Thomas was 14 years old, he became an apprentice with the Montreal pharmaceutical firm of Kenneth Campbell and Company.

After Thomas graduated from the Quebec College of Pharmacy in 1878, he was with the dispensing department of the Medical Hall in Montreal.

From 1881 to 1884, he was the manager of the Medical Hall’s branch in Windsor, Ontario.

On June 1, 1883, Thomas married Margaret Jane Alexander Gilmour in Montreal. She was born in Percy, Ontario, on May 21, 1858. Her father was James Gilmour (born about 1811; died between 1871 and 1881).

Margaret’s mother was Margaret Rodger (1827-1903).

In 1884, Thomas became the manager of the dispensing department at Hollister and Company in Honolulu, Hawaii. He and Margaret were active in the local Bethel Union Church. However, Thomas did not like the Hawaiian climate, and the Hendersons moved to Victoria, British Columbia, in the fall of 1886. (The article below says that he was going to Vancouver, not Victoria.)
