In the early 1920s James was the chairman of the British Columbia division of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association. He was a booster of British Columbia’s economy. Like some other people of his time, he feared that Japanese and Chinese workers were gaining too much control of British Columbia’s farms and other businesses.

James and Marion continued to live in Vancouver until the 1950s.

Marion died in Vancouver on August 26, 1955. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

James died in Vancouver on March 16, 1958. He was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby.

James and Marion had the following children.

 

Jessie Margaret Thomson

Jessie Margaret Thomson was born in Alberni, British Columbia, on March 12, 1901.

Until 1921 she was living with her parents.

On November 7, 1930, in Vancouver, she married William Leonard Locke, who worked the superintendent of the Auto Club of British Columbia Agencies Limited. He was born in Antwerp, Belgium His parents were Leonard Pye Locke and Emily Puttock.

William died in Vancouver on January 17, 1961.

Jessie later married Barclay Johnstone Mellish, who was a banker. He was born in Montague, Prince Edward Island on January 8, 1889. His parents were John Thomas Mellish and Margaret Ann Johnstone.

Jessie died in Vancouver on August 4, 1964. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Barclay died in Vancouver on Mary 1, 1975.

 

James Thomson

James Thomson was born in Vancouver on December 12, 1902.

He worked as a commission agent.

On March 30, 1929, he married Marjorie Lucinda Brewster, who was a nurse. She was born in Victoria, British Columbia, on August 15, 1905. Her father was Harlan Carey Brewster (1870-1918), who was the premier of British Columbia when he died in 1918. Marjorie’s mother was Annie Lucinda Downey (or Downie) (1871-1912).

James died in Vancouver on July 30, 1959.

Marjorie died in North Vancouver on July 21, 1990.

 

Donald Murdoch Thomson

Donald Murdoch Thomson was born in Vancouver on August 26, 1913.

He married Muriel Nelson Aitken, who was born in Chinook Park, Alberta on October 10, 1914.

Donald died in Vancouver on February 1, 2003.

Muriel died in Vancouver on August 18, 2014.

She attended Kerrisdale Elementary, Point Grey Jr. and Magee High Schools. Her prairie learned values were core to her giving and caring nature and were obvious to all who met her. Family was her first priority and her quick wit and charming smile endeared her to many. She will be truly missed. Muriel attended Knox United Church Sunday school, Young Peoples and was a Sunday school teacher and active member of the Kinney-Adair Unit. A gathering at Knox United Church, 5600 Balaclava St., to celebrate Muriel’s life will be held on Saturday September 13th 2014, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Muriel’s memory to a charity of your choice.”
