Biggs, Hesketh St. John (1891-1942)

Hesketh St. John Biggs was a meter reader and clerk with the British Columbia Electric Railway. He lived at 952 Denman Street in 1919.

He was born in Camberwell, Australia on May 3, 1891. His father was St. John Alder Biggs (1854-1910); his mother was Mary Josephine Ray (born about 1859 in Victoria, Australia).

On November 28, 1914, in Vancouver, he married Florence May Edith MacPherson. She was born in Vancouver on September 16, 1892. Her father was Ewen Cluny MacPherson (1851-1932); her mother was Jane Vaudine Caroline Agassiz (1857-1916). (Jane’s second name often appears as “Vandine”, but it appears that the correct spelling is “Vaudine.”)

Hesketh enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He contracted tuberculosis during the war.

He died in Los Angeles, California on September 1, 1942.

Florence died in Sechelt, British Columbia, on January 30, 1982.

Dorothy Edith St John Biggs

Dorothy Edith St John Biggs was born in Vancouver on November 4, 1919. She became an office stenographer. She never married. She died in Sechelt, British Columbia on March 5, 1977.

 

Ron Thomas Hesketh Biggs

Ron Thomas Hesketh Biggs was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 3, 1929. He was a clerk with the Royal Insurance Company. He died on May 28, 2007.
