Thomas McGiveron was born in Liverpool, England, on June 7, 1877. His parents were John McGiveron and Annie Beddows.

 

To Vancouver

Thomas first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1904. He was working as a shingle sawyer. He was rooming at 308 Pender Street.

On February 15, 1905, in Vancouver, Thomas married Grace Margaret Kerr. She was born in Burnside, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, on March 25, 1881. Her parents were Thomas Kerr and Mary Ann McDonald.

For much of his career, Thomas worked as a sawyer in a shingle manufacturing business.

Thomas died in North Burnaby, British Columbia on February 24, 1955. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Grace died in Vancouver on January 13, 1965. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Thomas and Grace had the following children.

 

Edna Mary McGiveron

Edna Mary McGiveron was born in Vancouver about 1907.

On November 24, 1926, in Vancouver, she married Henry (“Harry”) Harold Callaway, who worked as a cleaner. He was born in Kent, England, about 1899. His parents were Henry Callaway (1866-1956) and Louise Brown (1870-1955).

Harry later worked as a buyer and installer of carpets.

Harry died in Chilliwack, British Columbia, on March 30, 1977. Edna died sometime after that.

Further information on Edna is not available.

 

Thomas Stanley McGiveron

Thomas Stanley McGiveron was born in Vancouver on December 6, 1908.

He worked as a bookkeeper.

On July 30, 1927, in Cloverdale, British Columbia, he married Elizabeth Howe. She was born in Yorkshire, England on December 1, 1906. Her parents were James Alexander Howe and Elizabeth Palmer (or Elizabeth Anne Wright).

Thomas died in Burnaby, British Columbia on May 4, 1976.

Elizabeth died in Burnaby, British Columbia on October 4, 1992.

 

Baby McGiveron

Thomas and Grace had a stillborn baby on February 8, 1910. This baby was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

 

John Alistair McGiveron

John Alistair McGiveron was born in Vancouver on September 26, 1907.

He worked as a machinist.

On April 21, 1928, in Vancouver, he married Edith Doris Head, who was a dressmaker. She was born in Gillingham, Kent, England, on April 19, 1906. Her parents were Walter John Henry Head and Edith Fitt. (Walter’s second wife was Thea Peterson.)

This marriage was dissolved at Vancouver on January 4, 1952. Edith later married Karl Hienz Baruth, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, on July 15, 1913. Edith worked as a hairdresser. She died in Burnaby, British Columbia, on July 15, 1982. Karl died in Burnaby on November 18, 1995.

John later married Jean Mary Bosc.

John died in Vancouver on December 4, 1969.
