Cotton, John Vincent (1880-1952)

John Vincent Cotton was an accountant. He lived at 1869 Georgia Street from 1910 to 1912 and at 2047 Pendrell Street in 1920.

John Vincent Cotton was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on February 28, 1880. His father was Arthur Frederick Cottton (1853-1925), who was a land surveyor. John’s mother was Annie McMartin (1860-1924).

John and his parents were living in Ottawa in 1881. The family moved to New Westminster, British Columbia in 1888, and John lived with his parents until at least 1901.

By 1907, John was an accountant in Phoenix, which was an incorporated city and copper mining camp in the Boundary Country of British Columbia.

Possibly by 1908 and certainly by 1909, John and Mary were in Vancouver. In 1908, John was a clerk for the hardware firm of Wood, Vallance & Leggat.
