1860 Barclay Street is one of the few original houses in the West of Denman area that still exists in 2019.

1860 Barclay Street was one of two similar houses on the south side of Barclay Street, near the middle of the block between Denman Street and Gilford Street. (The other house was at 1856 Barclay Street. It was demolished to make room for “The Coast Park,” an apartment building with an address of 1844 Barclay Street.)

In more recent years, the house was a private residence and a guest house.

In 2012 and 2018, developers proposed to build infill apartment housing that would preserve the original house. As of 2019, these additional developments have not yet proceeded.
