Elliott, Robert (1873-after 1924)

Robert Elliott was an accountant. He lived at 2052 Beach Avenue in 1912.

He was born in Ireland about August 1873.

He served with the British forces during the South African War.

Robert and Muriel went to live in South Africa.

In 1910, Robert and Muriel moved to Canada. They travelled on a ship called “Victorian,” and arrived at Quebec City in October 1910.

By 1911, they were at 620 Cordova Street in Vancouver. Robert was working as a bookkeeper.

In 1912, they moved to 2052 Beach Avenue. Robert was working as a bookkeeper at the B.C. Clean Towel Supply Company.

By 1913, Robert was working as an accountant for Alliance Trust and Investment Company Ltd.

From 1914 to 1916, Robert and Muriel did not appear in the Vancouver directories.

In 1917, Robert was at number 18, 1201 West Georgia Street (then called Florence Court; from 1931, the building was called the Banff Apartments).

In 1918, a Robert A. Elliott appeared in the Vancouver directory at number 5, 1974 West Georgia Street, with a note that he was on “active service.” It is not clear if this is the same person.
