Horace Newton Clarke was the manager of the Dominion Blue Print Company. He lived at 751 Denman Street from to 1917 to 1920.

Horace was born on January 10, 1880 in Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, England. His father was Edward Clarke; his mother was Ruth Isabella Darrell.

By 1911, Horace was in Vancouver. He was working for Multigraphers, which had its office in rooms 1407 and 1408 of the Dominion Trust Building at 207 West Hastings Street. Horace was living at 1729 Pendrell Street.

On June 2, 1913, in Vancouver, Horace married Martha Wilson. She was born in England, probably in Northampton, on March 27, 1890. Her father was George Wilson. Her mother was Penelope Metcalfe.

Horace continued to work in the reproduction and blue print business for the rest of his time in Vancouver.

Martha died in Vancouver on March 2, 1932. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

On June 29, 1936, in Vancouver, Horace married Winifred Langlands. She was born in England on July 8, 1892. Her parents were Charles and Minnie Langlands.

In 1925, Winifred had worked as a stenographer for a publishing business called “The Square Ltd.” In 1930 she was a stenographer for the BC Music Festival.

Horace and Winifred continued to live in the Vancouver area. In 1949, they went on a sea journey. They sailed on the S.S. Pacific Enterprise, a British freighter from Manchester, England, stopping in Los Angeles, California, in mid-August. (On the ship’s return journey from Vancouver to Manchester, the freighter was wrecked near Point Arena in California on September 9, 1949; it was carrying a cargo of wheat, lumber, canned salmon and metals.)

Horace died in Crescent Beach, British Columbia, on August 18, 1963.

Winifred died in Vancouver on July 21, 1988.

Horace and Martha had two children.

 

Edward Newton Clarke

Edward Newton Clarke was born in Vancouver in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1932. He spent his career in navy life, eventually becoming a commander of several ships and working at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. He retired in 1967, and lived in Nova Scotia. He died in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 18, 2011.

 

George Darrell Clarke

George Darrell Clarke was born in Vancouver on May 2, 1922. In 1950 he was married to Elena Dubetz. He was working as a mechanic for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

George was living in the Vancouver area in 2011.
