Francis Edmund Jordison was born in Erdington, near Birmingham, England on January 17, 1884. (He was sometimes called “Frank.”) His parents were Alfred Henry Jordison (1845-1924) and Theresa (Teresa) Ellliot (1852-1916). Alfred Jordison was a printer and stationer.
In 1904, Frank and his brother, Cyril, sailed from England to Canada. They arrived at Quebec City, on their way to Toronto, Ontario.

Frank first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1907. He was living at 848 Granville Street and working as a chimney sweep. Frank’s brother, Cyril, had a window cleaning business with George Cubitt (sometimes listed as “Tippett” in the 1907 directory).

Marriage to Margaret Tierney and Life in Vancouver
On June 29, 1908, in Vancouver, Frank married Margaret Ellen Tierney. She was born in London, England on April 6, 1888. Her parents were Joseph Tierney (1855-1928) and Dinah Nellie Walton (1869-1956).
Frank and his brother, Cyril, were members of the Vancouver Bicycle Club.
In 1916, Frank and Margaret were living in Tempe Heights in North Vancouver. While they were away temporarily, a fire destroyed their house.
Frank continued to work as a roofer until about 1962. He died in Vancouver on December 6, 1969. He was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Margaret died in Burnaby on April 30, 1970. She was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby.

Alfred Edward Jordison was born in Vancouver on June 12, 1909.
On August 1, 1931, in Vancouver, he married Eva Chisholm. This marriage ended in divorce in Vancouver on January 17, 1946.
Alfred later married Doreen Edith Paine. She was born in Vancouver on June 11, 1927.
Alfred and Doreen lived in Washington State.
Alfred died in Thurston County, Washington on April 20, 1990. He was buried in Odd Fellows Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Tumwater, Washington.

Teresa Margaret Jordison

Wilfred later married Isabella Johnson McGregor. She was born in Scotland on August 1, 1899.
Wilfred died in Richmond, British Columbia on November 13, 1956.
Isabella died in Richmond on September 18, 1975.
Cyril Oswald Jordison
Cyril Oswald Jordison was born in Birmingham, England on November 30, 1887.
On February 11, 1913, in Vancouver, Cyril married Florence Helen Jane Gathern. Although the marriage certificate said that Florence was born in Ireland about 1892, it appears that she was actually born in Lambeth, London, England on July 30, 1893. Her parents were Harold (or Ernest) Gathern and Florence Emmett.
Cyril and Florence were separated or divorced. (When Florence died in Bella Bella, British Columbia on April 2, 1955, she was married to Jesse Ward (1881-1963)).
Cyril died in Murrayville, British Columbia on May 13, 1956.

I believe that several contributors to this list are related to him and I have him on an extensive family tree as my wife is a grandchild of a Jordison.
Alfred Henry Jordison (1844-1924) married Teresa Elliot (ca 1851-1916) and the last three sons of this family emigrated to British Columbia in the early 1900s.They were: Henry Wilfred Jordison (1882-1956), who married firstly Amy Earl Cornish and secondly Isabella Johnson MacGregor; Francis Edmund Jordison (1884-1969), who married Margaret Ellen Tierney; and Cyril Oswald Jordison (ca 1885-1956), who married Florence Helen Jane Gathern. Whilst I have quite a bit of information on the ancestry of this family, there are many gaps on the descendants and I would be more than happy to share information with anyone who is interested though it might be easier to contact me directly at donald.hudson@ntlworld.com .I should add that my wife’s links with the above Jordisons is quite distant, but they do link in the village of Stainton-in-Cleveland in what used to be the North Riding of Yorkshire in the 1700s.
