Robert Carrie Paton was the Vancouver manager of the Dominion Bank. He lived at 1991 Nelson Street in 1919 and 1920.

Family Background

Robert Carrie Paton was born in Toronto, Ontario, on August 30, 1884. His father was John Paton (1857-1935), who was an accountant and manager with Toronto General Trusts Corporation. Robert’s mother was Annie Taylor Carrie (1858-1953).

The Paton family lived in Toronto until 1910.

In 1910, the family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where John Paton was the local manager for the Toronto General Trusts Corporation.

On May 22, 1913, in Toronto, Robert married Kathleen Beatrice Gooderham. She was born in Toronto on May 20, 1885. Her father was Edward George Gooderham (1859-1938). Her mother was Minnie Eleanor Armstrong (1859-1936).

By 1916, Robert and Kathleen were living at 238 Elm Street in Winnipeg. Robert was acting western inspector for the Dominion Bank.

By 1918, Robert was an inspector for the Dominion Bank. He and Kathleen were at 839 McMillan Street in Winnipeg.

In 1919 and 1920, Robert and Kathleen were at 1991 Nelson Street in Vancouver. Robert was the manager of the Vancouver branch of the Dominion Bank.

By the time of the 1921 Canada census, Robert and Kathleen were in Toronto, at 310 St. George Street.

Robert appeared in the 1922 Toronto directory.

It appears that Robert and Kathleen continued to live in Ontario.

Robert died in Toronto on January 30, 1968. He was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.

Kathleen died on July 28, 1975. She was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.

Robert and Kathleen had the following children.

 

Robert Gooderham Paton

Robert Gooderham Paton was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 12, 1914. He died in Florida on March 13, 1977.

 

Edward John Paton

Edward John Paton was born in Manitoba, probably in Winnipeg, about 1921. He was living in Toronto in 1968. It appears that he died between 1968 and 1975.

 

John Shedden Paton (Jack)

John S. Paton was born about 1916 in Manitoba, probably in Winnipeg.

He served with the Canadian military forces during the Second World War. For a time he was reported missing, but he was later recovered.

In 1942 he married Ruth Adair Stunden.

In 1968 he was living in England.

It appears that he died in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, in 1971.
