John Scott Williams was a mining engineer. He lived at 1968 Georgia Street in 1907 and 1908.

John Scott Williams was born on December 20, 1839 in Bailey’s Brook, Guysborough, Nova Scotia.

On August 23, 1866, in Glenelg, Guysborough, Nova Scotia, John married Sarah Cameron. She was born in Nova Scotia in 1849.

John worked as a miner in Nova Scotia for several years. In 1897, the Williams family moved to British Columbia, and shortly afterward they went to the Yukon Territory.

After a successful mining career, John retired and moved to Vancouver.

He first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1903. He was living at 820 Howe Street.

Sarah died in Vancouver on December 4, 1931. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Francis (“Frank”) Zwickle Williams

Francis (“Frank”) Zwickle Williams was born in Goldenville, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, on July 15, 1868 (some sources say February 21, 1867).

On September 27, 1888, in Goldenville, he married Emma MacEachern. She was born in Nova Scotia in August 1869. Her parents were Neil MacEachren and Catherine Ann Fraser.

Frank died on July 16, 1916, at Coquitlam, British Columbia, when a Canadian Pacific Railway car ran over him.

Emma later sued for damages, claiming that the C.P.R. had been negligent. (The outcome of this case is not available.)

Emma died in Vancouver on November 15, 1936.

 

Alexander Duncan Williams

Alexander Duncan Williams was born in Nova Scotia about 1870.

On January 10, 1891, he married Eva May McDonald.

About 1901, Alexander and Eva moved to live in Buffalo, New York. Alexander operated the Williams Gold Refining Company, which made dental gold.

Alexander died in Buffalo on July 2, 1934. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo.

The Ontario government claimed that Alexander’s estate owed succession duties on shares of a gold mining company. In 1940, the Ontario Court of Appeal concluded that the estate did not owe the duties. (The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council later affirmed the court of appeal’s decision.)

Eva died in Buffalo on July 11, 1962. She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo.

 

Malcolm Milton Williams

Milton Williams was born in 1871 in Goldenville, Guysborough, Nova Scotia.

He died in Goldenville on August 22, 1872. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Sherbrooke, Guysborough County.

 

John A. Williams

John A. Williams was born in 1873 in Nova Scotia. It appears that he was living in the Yukon Territory with his parents in 1901.

He may have been in the Yukon in 1911 as well.

No further information is available for him.

 

Mary A. Williams

Mary A. Williams was born in Goldenville, Guysborough on December 14, 1873.

She died in Goldenville on December 22, 1879.

 

Elizabeth (“Bessie”) Williams

Elizabeth Bessie Williams was born in 1876 in Sherbrooke, Guysborough, Nova Scotia.

In 1881 she was living with her parents in Sherbrooke.

On July 11, 1896, in Comox, British Columbia, she married Daniel Kilpatrick, who worked in a livery stable. He was born about 1866 Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His parents were Robert Kilpatrick and Esther Merritt.

Bessie died in Vancouver on September 19, 1932.

Daniel died in Cumberland, British Columbia on July 15, 1941.

 

Malcolm Cameron Williams

Malcolm Cameron Williams was born in Goldenville, Guysborough, Nova Scotia on February 22, 1878.

On July 21, 1904, in Vancouver, he married Catherine Dairon. She was born in St. John, New Brunswick on May 20, 1882. Her parents were David Dairon and Isabella Gunn.

Malcolm served as the mayor of Fort Erie, Ontario.

He died in Fort Erie in April 1949.

Amy Williams

Amy Williams was born in Nova Scotia on March 5, 1880.

On July 21, 1901, in Dawson City, Yukon, she married Hector Allen Stewart. He was born in Prince Edward Island on April 21, 1874.

May Williams (possibly Mary Ann Williams)

May Williams was born in Nova Scotia about 1884. (She was often called “Tottie.”)

In 1891 she was living with her parents in Sherbrooke, Guysborough, Nova Scotia.

In 1911 and 1921 she was living with her parents in Vancouver.

In 1936, when she applied for a delayed registration of birth, she gave her address as the Hotel Wellington in New York City.
