George Albert Simmonds was a retail cigar clerk. He lived at 1893 Pendrell Street from 1916 to 1918 and at 1877 Pendrell Street in 1920.

George Albert Simmonds was born in Cricklade, Wiltshire, England, probably on September 20, 1856. His parents were Mark Simmonds and Ann Wilkins.

In the 1881 England and Wales census, George was a porter at the municipal workhouse in Thame, Oxfordshire.

In the 1891 England and Wales census, George was operating a coffee house in St Saviours, London, England. According to the census he was married to Clara.

By the time of the 1901 England and Wales census, George was a commercial traveller in London.

He arrived in Canada about 1910. In the 1911 Canada census, he was living at 1623 Comox Street in Vancouver. He was the manager of a tobacco business. His sister, Clara, was living at the same address.

George first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1912. He was living at 1243 Alberni Street, and working as a manager for his sister, Clara, who operated the cigar stand at 419 West Hastings Street.

George lived at the following addresses in Vancouver.

1912 to 1915 1243 Alberni Street
1916 to 1918 1893 Pendrell Street
1919 878 East 51st Avenue (possible connection)
1920 1877 Pendrell Street

On April 9, 1918, in Vancouver, George married Maud Edith Ethel Lee, who was a nurse. She was born in Harrow, Middlesex, England, on October 3, 1881. Her father was William Kendall Lee, who was an oil merchant. Maud’s mother was Mary Ann Wilkins. (The marriage certificate stated that George was a widower. Most other sources before 1918 refer to him as “single,” and there is no available information that relates to any earlier marriage.)

George and Maud moved to the United States in the early 1920s.

On June 22, 1928, in San Diego, California, George became a naturalized United States citizen.

In 1930 George and Maude were living at 2346 Second Street in San Diego.

On September 19, 1930, Maud became a naturalized United States citizen.

George died in San Diego on January 7, 1940. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Maud died in Vancouver on June 12, 1948. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

It appears that George and Maud did not have any children.
