Malahide Families Concession Three; https://sites.google.com/site/elginbranchogs/Home/online-publications/malahide-families/malahide-families-concession-three:

  1. David Liddle (son of Samuel & Elizabeth); born March 30, 1864; died January 1, 1930; buried in Aylmer; married Jan. 4, 1899 Anna Mabel Wickett (July 6, 1868 – April 4, 1958)

David’s obituary appeared in the Aylmer Express, January 9, 1930:

David Liddle Was Resident of Aylmer 50 Years

David Liddle, one of Aylmer’s best known and most highly respected citizens, died at his home on Pine street on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1st, in his 66th year. Mr. Liddle had been ill for a number of years, and had put up a strenuous and determined fright to regain his former good health.  He was a man of sterling qualities, and was most patient throughout his long illness, keeping at his work when many others would have long before given up in despair. He was only confined to his bed for a short time, when everything possible was done for his comfort by his family.

Born in Malahide township, he came to Aylmer at an early age and has made this town his home for nearly half a century. For several years Mr. Liddle was engaged in business here, but for the last twenty-five years he has been government inspector of weights and measures, his duties taking him throughout Western Ontario. He served the municipality as a member of the town council in past years and has been a most useful citizen. In politics he was a staunch Liberal. Mr. Liddle was a former member of Knox Presbyterian church, Aylmer, and had been a member of Aylmer Lodge No. 94, I.O.O.F., for many years.

Surviving are his widow, who was Miss Annie Mabel Wickett, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wickett; one son, Andrew, at home; and two daughters, Edith, at home, and Jean, of Toronto; John Liddle, of Malahide, and Robert Liddle, of Rodney are brothers.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, the 4th inst., from the home and was largely attended, many being present from out of town. Rev. Waldemar Williams, pastor of the United Church, conducted the service, which was most impressive.  Mr. H. M. Hambidge sang a favorite hymn, “Abide With Me”, and was accompanied by Miss Frances Howey. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. The pallbearers were Messrs. Alex Orr, W. J. Mann, F. D. King, G. A. Bingham, J. J. Nairn, and Dr. L. A. Brown.  Honorary bearers were A. A. Luton, T. Cuddy, William Hobbs, T. Hicks, D. Ashley, all of London, and R. A. Cadda, of Windsor. Flower bearers, Messrs. Cottrell, Murgatroyd, H. Orton, W. Stewart, James Turner, C. B. Brown, J. P. Coyle, W. Chute, F. Truman, D. H. Connor, W. H. Starr, J. A. Gillett, J. A. McKellar, James Barnum, H. E. Freeman, and H. M. Hambidge. Interment took place in the family plot in the Aylmer cemetery.
