His parents were John Davis and Mary Ann Cock (or Cook), who were married in Horselydown on November 7, 1836. John Davis was born in Chertsey, Surrey about 1799, and he became a clergyman.

Florence’s first marriage was to Henry Delisle Tupper on May 31, 1877, in St. Peter Port, Guernsey. Henry died on June 7, 1878, at Bon Accord, Mount Row, Guernsey.

In 1885, John was a clergyman at Taymouth, Kenmore, in Perth, Scotland.

In the late 1880s, the Davis family came to British Columbia. They lived on Vancouver Island, near Nanaimo.

In 1897, John became the vicar at Sapperton and Ladner.

In 1902, John and Florence moved to Vancouver.

Florence died in Vancouver on December 20, 1903. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Davie left the following family: The Misses Florence, Winifred and Sarah Davie and Messrs. Ian and Gavin Davie. The funeral will take place from the family residences, 1008 Denman street, at 2 p.m. tomorrow, and will be strictly private.”

 

John went back to England, and he lived in Malvern, Worcestershire.

In 1905, in Upton on Severn, Worcestershire, he married Marie Louise Swift.

In 1911, John and Marie were living at “Tully Allan” on Carlton Road in Malvern.

He worked as a machinist.

In April 1902, he enlisted with the Canadian Mounted Rifles to serve with the British forces in South Africa.

In 1947, the War Veterans Allowance board was reviewing his service in South Africa.

Florence Edith Davis was born in Aberfeldy, Scotland, on December 19, 1883.

On September 21, 1904, in Vancouver, she married Basil John Jayne, who was an accountant. He was born in Llanelly, Breconshire, Wales, on March 6, 1871. His parents were Basil John Jayne and Julia Clara Thompson.

Basil later became the manager of the law firm of Robertson, Douglas and Symes. He died in West Vancouver on January 17, 1940.

Gavin Hardwick Davis was born in Aberfeldy, Scotland, on January 16, 1885 (one source says 1881).

In 1911, he was living in Vancouver and working as an office clerk. He later worked as a broker.

In September 1914, he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force to serve during the First World War.

He later became a mining engineer.

In July 1947, in Saanichton, British Columbia, he married Marguerite McGraw, who was a school teacher. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on December 1, 1895. Her parents were Robert and Ellen McGraw.

On August 2, 1905, in Vancouver, she married Edward Howard Howard-Gibbon, who was a transportation agent. He was born on September 14, 1881, in Penetanguishine, Ontario. His father was Charles Stewart Gibbon. His mother was Florence Lambe.

On March 4, 1920, in Vancouver, Winnifred married Arthur Holmes Pigott, who was the manager of Victoria Vancouver Stevedoring Company. He was born on May 16, 1868, in Liverpool, England. His parents were John Pigott and Mary Jane Waters.

Arthur died in Saanich, British Columbia on April 15, 1932.
