William Herbert Dickson was a real estate and insurance broker. He lived at 1818 Comox Street from 1907 to 1910.

William Herbert Dickson was born on March 12, 1870, in Sydenham, Kent, England. His father was William Oswald Dickson, who was a surgeon assistant. His mother was Mary Herbert.

By 1892 William Junior was living in New Westminster, British Columbia. He was an accountant for Edward Montague Nelson Woods (1862-1919), a lawyer originally from Victoria, British Columbia.

On May 22, 1893, in New Westminster, William married Katherine Annie Walker. She was born on June 3, 1871, in Halifax, England. Her father was Edward Johnson Walker (1817-1880), the editor of the Halifax Guardian newspaper for 42 years.

Katherine’s mother was Mary Hannah Ibbotson (1818-1874).

By 1894, William and Katherine were in Chilliwack, British Columbia. In addition to being an accountant, William was also Edward Woods’s representative in Chilliwack.

On June 2, 1894, in Chilliwack, William and Katherine became the parents of twin girls: Florence and Marjorie.

In 1894, William became a notary public.

William first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1901. He was an accountant with the real estate and employment firm of J. Mason and Company.

By 1922, Katherine, Florence and Marjorie were living at 2006 7th Avenue in Los Angeles. Katherine described herself as William’s widow.

It appears that Katherine died in Los Angeles on July 1, 1928, and that she was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

From 1925 to 1929, William lived at 502 Fifth Avenue in New Westminster.

William died in New Westminster on April 18, 1930. He was buried in Fraser Cemetery in New Westminster.

William and Katherine had two daughters.

 

Florence Herbert Dickson

Florence Herbert Dickson was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, on June 2, 1894.

In 1920 she travelled to Los Angeles, California, with her mother and her sister, Marjorie.

In 1930 and 1940 she was working as a stenographer for a financial investment company.

On November 12, 1937, she became a naturalized United States citizen.

She never married.

Florence died in Los Angeles on August 15, 1984. She was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills).

 

Marjorie Ibbotson Dickson

Marjorie Ibbotson Dickson was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, on June 2, 1894.

In 1920 she travelled to Los Angeles, California, with her mother and her sister, Florence.

In 1930 and 1940 she was working as a stenographer for an oil company.

On November 12, 1937, she became a naturalized United States citizen.

She never married.

Marjorie died in Los Angeles on August 13, 1965. She was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills).
