Foster, Thomas Frederick (1854 or 1861-1912)

Thomas Frederick Foster was a clerk in a clothing store. He lived at 1893 Beach Avenue in 1908.

He was born in Ireland, perhaps in 1854 or 1861.

He married Georgina Nicholson, who was born in England in February 6, 1861 or 1862. Georgina’s father was George Nicholson. Her mother was Matilda Aynsley.

He arrived in Canada about 1905. He first appeared in the Vancouver directory in 1907. He was living at 1749 West Fourth Avenue, and was working as a clerk with Robert Robertson’s clothing store at 20 West Cordova Street.

Thomas lived at the following addresses in Vancouver.

1908 1893 Beach Avenue
1909 and 1910 1749 West Fourth Avenue
1912 3242 West First Avenue

He died in Vancouver on February 12, 1912, and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Georgina died on August 17, 1952, in Burnaby, British Columbia. She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby.

Thomas and Georgina had the following children.

Thomas H. Foster

Thomas H. Foster was born in England in November 1884.

In 1911, he was living with his parents in Vancouver.

Norah (Nora) Foster

Norah (Nora) Foster was born in Durham, England on February 1, 1888. She was christened on May 16, 1888, at Shotley-Bridge, Durham, England.

She married a Mr. Cosmos. (Some sources suggest that he was Peter George Cosmos, who was born in Greece about 1895. If so, Norah and Peter were living in San Francisco, California, in 1930. It appears that Peter died in Tacoma, Washington in 1932.)

Nora was living in Vancouver in 1935 and 1936. She was an agent for Canada Life Assurance Company. She was living at 1366 Harwood Street, with Annie Ellen Sibson, the widow of George Thomas Sibson.

By 1940, Nora was in San Francisco. The 1940 United States census said that she was a widow. She was working as a bookkeeper for Pacific Carbon and Ribbon Manufacturing Company.

In 1945, Nora was a milliner in San Francisco.

In 1951, she went to England. She returned from Southampton on the Queen Mary, and arrived in New York City on July 12, 1951.

In 1953, she was living at 1438 21st Avenue in San Francisco. She had a business at 1914 Irving Street, called Cosmos Apparel Hats and Yarns.

About 1956, she moved to Victoria, British Columbia. She died in Victoria on December 3, 1971.
