Anson Blis [sometimes “Bliss”] Cole Rutledge was a clerk with the Canadian Pacific Steamship Company. He lived at 1860 Comox Street in 1917.

Anson Bliss Cole Rutledge was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 15, 1885. His parents were Thomas Rutledge and Mary Jane Cole.

On June 1, 1909, in Montreal, Anson Mabel Ellen Bowen.

On April 7, 1915, in Montreal, Anson married Edythe Elliott Hirsch.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Anson and Edythe were living at number 1, 2925 Oak Street in Vancouver.

By the fall of 1953, they were living at Roberts Creek on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast.

He died on March 25, 1969. He was buried in Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal.

 

Edythe Beryle Rutledge

Edythe Beryle Rutledge (often called “Betty”) was born in Vancouver about 1920.

In 1972 she was married to Harold Oddy, who was an engineer. They were living at 20790 Lakeshore Road in Vaudreuil, Quebec.

She died in Stratford on May 31, 2006.

 

Donald Forbes Rutledge

Donald Forbes Rutledge was born in Vancouver on August 17, 1922.

He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War.

He later lived in Montreal, Quebec, where he married Marilyn Miller in 1952.

In 1953, Donald and Marilyn moved to Vancouver. Until 1982 Donald worked for the Foxboro Company Limited, which made industrial instruments.

Robert Edward Rutledge

Robert Edward Rutledge was born in Vancouver on September 25, 1925.

He never married.

He died in Gibson’s, British Columbia, on August 17, 1994.

At Betty’s request, there will be no funeral home visitation or service and her body has been bequeathed to the University of Western Ontario, London for medical education and research. Survived by his wife Marilyn (Miller), sons Donald Gordon, Michael David, and Kenneth Andrew, and grandchildren Emily, Megan, Ian and Christina. Pre-deceased by his Brother Robert, sister Betty, mother Edythe, and father Anson. Our sincerest thanks to all the health care providers on the Sunshine Coast: Dr Bryson; St. Mary’s staff; BC Ambulance Service Paramedics; Coastal Health; and especially to the home care workers who cared for Don in his home. Don was born in Vancouver, grew up in Vancouver & Montreal, and spent summers in Roberts Creek where his parents moved in the 50’s. Don and Marilyn retired to Roberts Creek in 1980 and moved to Sechelt in 1998. Don served with the Armed Forces as an aircraft mechanic with Ferry Command, and then with the RCAF 411 squadron in England, Holland, France and Germany. Don & Marilyn married in Montreal in 1952, moving to Vancouver in 1953 where they raised their family. Don established and managed an office for an instrumentation company where he worked until he retired in 1982. No service by request. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to St. Mary’s hospital foundation.”
