Herbert Lockwood was a bank accountant and manager who was born in Manchester, England, on February 28, 1856. His parents were William Perfect Lockwood (1825–1904) and Eleanor Griffin (1830–1917). The Lockwood family arrived in Canada about 1869.

On December 9, 1885, in Montreal, Quebec, Herbert married Marietta Walker Greenshields.

By 1907, Herbert was back in Vancouver, where he set up a practice as an auditor and financial agent.

In 1910, Minnie Lockwood became ill while she was visiting her sister in Pasadena, California.

Minnie died in Pasadena on January 26, 1910. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California.

After Minnie’s death, Herbert continued to live and work in Vancouver.

Herbert sometimes acted as a receiver and liquidator of failing businesses. Most of these liquidations proceeded without difficulty, but one led to legal troubles for him.

In 1916, he became the liquidator of three companies. During the course of the liquidation, the auditors discovered a shortfall in Herbert’s accounts. The court appointed a new liquidator, and authorized legal proceedings against Herbert to recover the shortfall.

Herbert later retired and he went to live at Hammond (Maple Ridge), British Columbia. He died in Hammond on September 16, 1948. He was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

He went to Queen’s School in Vancouver.

In 1902, he went to Victoria to attend the Collegiate School.

William Foster was a nurseryman. He died in Kamloops, British Columbia, on July 4, 1904.

On January 4, 1923, in Golden, Henry married Amy Woodward. She was born in Leighs, Lancashire, England, on January 30, 1894. Her parents were John Richard Woodward and Mary Emily Hart.

In 1933, Henry published “An Accurate and Dependable Prospector’s and Traveller’s Guide to Barkerville of Today: Absolutely Authentic Information.”

In June 1933, Henry was leaving Golden and was preparing to open an office in Quesnel, British Columbia.

Henry’s and Amy’s marriage ended in divorce in Vancouver on November 18, 1938. (Amy worked as a teacher. She never re-married. For a time she lived in Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia. She died in Cranbrook, British Columbia, on July 20, 1983.)

In 1945, Henry married Eva Kathleen Fry. She was born as Eva Kathleen Hambleton in Victoria, British Columbia on October 5, 1905. Her parents were Humberson Grandine Hambleton (1868-1950) and Elizabeth Tranter (1866-1894). Eva had been married in 1929, to Julian Edward Fry (1901-1984), but this marriage ended in divorce.

Henry continued his law practice in the Williams Lake area. He died in Williams Lake on January 3, 1953.

Henry Foster Lockwood was born on September 14, 1918, in British Columbia, possibly in Golden.

He never married.

He served with the Canadian military forces during the Second World War. He was killed in action in Italy on August 31, 1944. He was buried in Montecchio War Cemetery, Montecchio, Provincia di Pesaro e Urbino, Marche, Italy.
