Frederick Skelding Collier was an accountant. He lived at 1839 Morton Avenue in 1913.

Frederick Skelding Collier was born in Plaistow Park, Essex, England, on December 26, 1863. His parents were Frederick Collier (about 1832-1905) and Elizabeth Stokes Skelding (abt. 1830 – 1887).

In 1871 and 1881 he was living with his parents.

He went to St. Paul’s School in London, England.

In 1887 Frederick married Elizabeth Sarah Emma Davies, who was born in 1866. Elizabeth died in 1888.

In 1890, in West Ham, Essex, Frederick married Edith Sarah Browne.

Edith was born on March 20, 1867 in Poplar, Essex. Her father was James George Woods Browne. Her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Davis.

In 1891, Frederick and Edith were living in West Ham.

In the 1890s, Frederick was in a partnership with Albert Herbert Middleton. Their firm carried on business as builders in Leytonstone, Essex. In 1896, Frederick and Albert dissolved the partnership, and Frederick carried on the business by himself.

In 1899, Frederick became bankrupt.

It appears that Frederick later received a discharge from bankruptcy. The trustee was released in 1901.

In 1904, the Colliers sailed to Canada on the S.S. Tunisian.

They arrived in Quebec City in May 1904, and their ultimate destination was Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He was also a notary public.

Frederick first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1912. He was an accountant with Morton Griffiths and Company. He was living at 1839 Morton Avenue.

By 1913, the family had moved to 1040 Cardero Street.

In 1915, the family moved to the United States. By 1916, Frederick was an accountant with the household supply company of L. Feldmann and Company in San Francisco, California. His son, Frederick, was a clerk at the Feldmann company.

In 1921 Frederick applied to become a naturalized United States citizen.

In 1923, Frederick was living at 1410 Santa Clara Street in Alameda.

Frederick died in Alameda on September 4, 1923. He was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland, California.

Edith continued to live in California until the 1940s. She died in Oakland, California, on June 26, 1947. She was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland.

Frederick James Collier

Frederick James Collier was born on March 14, 1891 in Plastow, Essex, England.

On June 5, 1917, Frederick registered with the United States military draft system. He was a bank clerk with the Alameda National Bank.

On June 9, 1918, in Almeda, California, he married Rose Meves. It appears that she died on January 3, 1919.

On December 11, 1920, in Oakland, California, Frederick married Helen Jeanette Jeanette Dahl. She was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1894.

Frederick operated a service station garage.

On April 26, 1942, Frederick registered with the United States military draft system.

Frederick died in Alameda on May 28, 1943. He was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland, California.

Helen died in Alameda County on December 4, 1895. She was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland.

 

Walter Henry Browne Collier

Walter Henry Browne Collier was born in Ramsgate, Kent, England, on March 4, 1892.

On November 18, 1914, he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force to serve during the First World War.

He was killed in Belgium during the Battle of the Somme on July 19, 1916. He was buried in Reninghelst New Military Cemetery in Belgium.

Reginald Cyril “Bob” Collier

Reginald Cyril Collier was born in Plaistow, Essex, England, on October 1, 1893. He was sometimes called “Bob.”

When he was young, he was injured in an accident, which made him mentally unable to work.

He never married.

He spent many years living in the Sonoma State Home, in Eldridge, Sonoma County, California. He died on June 28, 1957. He was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland, California.

 

Harry Richard Brown Collier

Harry Richard Brown Collier was born on February 21, 1901, in Ramsgate, Kent England. He died there on August 17, 1901.

 

Leslie Percy Skelding Collier

Leslie Percy Skelding Collier was born in Thanet, Kent, England, on February 21 or August 14, 1901.

He married Dawne Catherine Gimbal. She was born on September 28, 1901, in San Jose, California. Her father was Alexander F. Gimbal. Her mother was Margaret. In 1924, Dawne had gone on a tour of several European countries.

Leslie died in Lafayette, Contra Costa County, California, on June 12, 1968. He was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland, California.

Dawne died in Walnut Creek, California, on August 11, 1998. She was buried in Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum in Oakland, California.

Leslie and Dawne had a son, Leslie Skelding Collier, Junior (1929-2016).
