Samuel Keith was a customs broker who lived at 1898 Alberni Street from 1910 to 1913.

Samuel Keith was born in Belfast, Ireland on October 14, 1838 (although some sources say he was born in 1841).

On December 31, 1857, in Belfast, he married Martha Anna Black. She was born on February 12, 1839 (some sources say 1840 or 1843).

Samuel and Martha travelled to Canada in 1887. They lived for a time in Manitoba before moving to Vancouver.

Samuel first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1894. He was a clerk at Hastings Saw Mill, and living at 814 Powell Street.

From 1894 to about 1900 he was a clerk with Hastings Saw Mill.

About 1900 he became a customs broker.

In 1908, Samuel and Martha celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Samuel died in Vancouver on August 2, 1917. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Martha died in Point Grey, British Columbia, on July 25, 1920. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Samuel and Martha had twelve children (two sons and 10 daughters).

One of their daughters was Maud Keith (1876-1953), who was married to William John Thorneloe (1869-1940). Mr. Thorneloe lived at 2060 Beach Avenue in 1908 and 1909. Further information appears on the page for William John Thorneloe.
