Wilson Stacey

In 1871, 1881 and 1891, Wilson was living with his parents in Tottenham, Middlesex. He trained as a chemist.

In 1901 he was in Falmouth, Cornwall, where he was a chemist and druggist.

He arrived in Canada about 1908, and he settled near Chilliwack, British Columbia. For the first few years, he lived on Prest Road.

In the spring of 1914, he enlarged the house on Prest Road.

On July 8, 1914, in Sardis, British Columbia, Wilson married Barbara Avice Trussel Gunson. She was born in Essex, England on June 8, 1885. Her parents were Richard Edward Gunson and Caroline Ada Hunt.

In 1915, Wilson painted the scenery for an entertainment event to raise money for the Daily Mail Overseas Aircraft Fund.

In the early 1920s, Wilson operated a pharmacy under his own name at 1003 Robson Street. [In 2018, this was the location of the Roots store, at the northwest corner of Robson Street and Burrard Street.]

By 1926, Wilson’s firm was called Burrard Pharmacy.

In the 1929 directory, Wilson was a farmer, living on the east side of Hendry Avenue near East 14th Street in North Vancouver. In 1930, the directory described him as a rancher.

By 1931, he was a druggist again.

In 1933, the Stacey family moved to England. They sailed on the Empress of Britain from Quebec City to Southampton.
