Wesley Richardson was a dentist. He lived at 1938 Beach Avenue from 1907 to 1909.

Wesley Richardson was born in Bond Head, Simcoe County, Ontario, on March 30 (or 31), 1861. His father was Hugh Wesley Richardson (1819-1881). His mother was Sarah Susanna Brown (1829-1914).

In 1871 and 1881, Wesley was living with his parents in Tecumseth, Ontario. By the late 1880s he was studying to become a dentist. He received his Licence in Dental Surgery (L.D.S.) in 1890.

By August 1890, Wesley was established as a dentist in Vancouver. He first appeared in the Vancouver directories in 1891. His office was at 148 Cordova Street, and he was living at the same address.

On June 16, 1892, Wesley married Christina Reesor Spink. She was born in Thorold, Ontario, on August 4, probably in 1867. Her father was William Spink (1842-1913). Christina’s mother was Mary Reesor (1845-1912).

Wesley and Christina lived at the following addresses in Vancouver.

In 1908, Wesley and Christina appeared in the Vancouver society directory. (They were not in the society directories for 1914 and 1927).

In 1909, Wesley and Christina hired Robert MacKay Fripp to design a house at 1686 Harwood Street (at the corner of Bidwell Street). By 1910 they had moved into the new house, and the family continued to live there through the 1940s.

Wesley was involved in music, especially singing. He led church choirs during his time in Vancouver.

Wesley carried on his dental practice until the 1940s.

On February 12, 1946, he was cleaning some dental tools over an alcohol lamp. His clothing caught fire, and he received severe burns on his face and hands. He died in the Vancouver General Hospital on February 13. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Christina died in Vancouver on June 2, 1950.

Wesley and Christina had the following children.

 

Ethel Mary Richardson

Ethel Mary Richardson was born in Vancouver on Mary 29, 1894. She lived with her parents until 1921.

By 1921 she was a nurse.

On August 1, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, she married James Dingwall. James and Ethel continued to live in Detroit, along with their family.

James died in March 1984.

Ethel died in Southfield, Oakland, Michigan, on March 8, 1991.

 

Unnamed boy Richardson

It appears that Wesley and Christina had a boy who was born on the same day as their daughter, Ethel.

He died two days later, and he was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

 

Gertrude Christina Richardson

Gertrude Christina Richardson was born in Vancouver on November 1, 1896.

On September 4, 1923, in Vancouver, she married Ewart William Lumsden, who was a broker. He was born on October 24, 1897, in Paisley, Ontario. His father was Thomas Lumsden. His mother was Barbara Isobel Rose.

Ewart later worked as a sales manager for a food brokerage business.

Ewart died in Vancouver on October 26, 1965.

Gertrude died in Vancouver on January 18, 1971.

 

Flora Kathleen Victoria Richardson

Flora Kathleen Victoria Richardson was born in Vancouver on February 14, 1901. She lived with her parents through the 1940s.

On January 6, 1955, she married Walter Ewing Strang, who was a widow. He was born on May 3, 1882. His father was Andrew Strang.

Walter died in Vancouver on January 27, 1965.

Flora died in Vancouver on January 31, 1993.
