William Hallert was a carpenter who lived at 1084 Denman Street in 1903.

A man named William Hallert died in Matsqui, British Columbia, on June 29, 1906. He may be the person who lived at 1084 Denman Street, although this is not certain.

The William Hallert in Matsqui was born in Germany on July 15, 1859.

He was married to Pauline Simon, who was born in Ohio about 1870.

In the 1890s, William and Pauline were living in Bellingham, Washington.

In 1901, Charles Dashway published a notice that he was applying for a transfer of the license for the Ottawa House hotel to William Hallert. (It is not certain that this is the same William Hallert who was at 1084 Denman Street.)

On June 29, 1906, in Matsqui, William Hallert died from cardiac arrest while he was splitting wood to make a fire. He was buried in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale, Whatcom County, Washington.

By 1920, William’s wife, Pauline, was living in Bellingham, Washington, with William’s widowed brother, Fred. The United States 1940 census described Fred and Pauline as husband and wife.

Fred died in Bellingham on January 31, 1943.

Pauline died in Bellingham on April 5, 1952. She was buried in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale.

William and Pauline had three sons. One son’s name is unknown; the others were William and Albert.

 

William Gustav Hallert

William Gustav Hallert was born in Tacoma, Washington, on September 4, 1888.

He worked as a brick-layer.

He was married to Netta Nelson. She was born in North Dakota on March 13, 1887. Her father was Alex Nelson. Her mother was Martha Kopanger.

William died in Vancouver on March 2, 1934, while he was recovering from a car accident. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Netta died in Vancouver on June 16, 1966. She was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

William and Netta had two daughters: Phyllis Mary Hallert (1913-1979), who was married to Frederick Fry; and Jeanette Francis Hallert (1914-1986), who did not marry.

 

Albert Julius Hallert

Albert Julius Hallert was born in Bellingham, Washington, on August 23, 1894.

He worked as a brick-layer.

On July 8, 1914, in Vancouver, he married Beulah Simon. She was born in Ridgetown, Ontario on January 9, 1894. Her father was Richard Jones. Her mother was Jenny Burdine.

In 1917, Albert was living in Bellingham, Washington.

Albert and Beulah later lived in Oakland, California.

Beulah died in Alameda County, California on April 25, 1960.

Albert died in Alameda County, California on November 5, 1968.

“Both drivers were held partly responsible for the death of William Hallert, 2520 Wall Street, who died in General Hospital last Friday as a result of injuries sustained when the auto he was driving collided with another car driven by S. Uchida, 2798 Yale Street, at Wall and Eton Streets on Feb. 14 last, according to a verdict returned by a coroner’s jury on Tuesday afternoon.

Hallert sustained only a fractured arm as a result of the collision. He was immediately removed to the General Hospital, but complications set in and later caused the death of the man.”
