Sue Humphries; Posted: 04 May 2005 09:43AM; . . . Georgina Mary Finniss was my great-grandmother. Her daughter Leah Alice Wheldon married Hugh Alexander Massey. They had 3 children; Hugh Holland Massey, John Peter Massey – my father, and Leah Barbara Massey (now 92). Barbara gave me a huge tree of Wheldon/Finniss/Barclay families, not to mention many, many others and this started me off on family history in 1983.

The story goes that Georgina Mary Finniss walked into a bank in Mauritius where Hugh Alexander was a teller. As she walked out he said, “I’ve just met the girl I’m going to marry”.

He used to embellish his stories but I don’t doubt that he had may have been part of its inception. I was born in Karachi in 1949 and I know he used to fly Constellations and Dakotas as well as smaller aircraft. I would love to find someone who knew of him to tell me that this is at least partly true!”
