Ireland, Henry Stanley (1869-1955)

Henry Stanley Ireland was a clerk who lived at 1829 Alberni Street in 1920.

He was born in Ireland on October 17, 1869. His father was Frederick Stanley Ireland, who was born in Derbyshire, England; his mother was Barbara Stanley, who was born in Norfolk, England.

He was married to Margaret Charlotte Hunter (sometimes called Lili or Lillian). She was born on June 18, 1870, in Wexford, Ireland. Her father was Nathaniel Charles Manners Hunter; her mother was Matilda Charlotte Howard Minchin. In 1906, Margaret’s mother, Matilda, was living with the family in Strathcona, Alberta. They also had a daughter named Celia O. Ireland, who was born in Alberta about 1904. It is not clear what became of Celia.

About 1942, the family moved to Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.

Henry died in Ganges, Salt Spring Island, on September 3, 1955. He was buried in St. Mark’s Cemetery on Salt Spring Island.

Margaret died in Victoria, British Columbia, on September 24, 1963. She was buried in St. Mark’s Cemetery on Salt Spring Island.

Henry and Margaret had a daughter who survived them.

Dorothy Margaret Ireland

Dorothy Margaret Ireland was born on June 15, 1909, in Calgary, Alberta. On June 15, 1929, in Vancouver, she married Adam Ivor Richardson. He was born in England about 1908. His father was Edward Alexander Richardson; his mother was Everilda Agnes Dundas. He was killed in a KLM Airlines crash in Bombay, India on July 12, 1949.

Dorothy later married Cyril Beech, who died in 1998.

Dorothy died on February 21, 2003, at Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island.
