Froggatt, John Henry (1876-1953)

The Canadian Western Electric Company was at 1869 Georgia Street in 1913 and 1914.

John Henry Froggatt was the manager of the company in 1912 and 1913.

John Henry Froggatt was born in Lambeth, Surrey, on July 28 or 29, 1876. His father was Thomas Froggatt (1848-1934); his mother was Hannah Breewood (sometimes spelled Breedwood) (1848-1927).

The Froggatt family arrived in Canada about 1897. By 1900, they were living in Swan River, Manitoba.

In 1904, John Henry Froggatt and Thomas Froggatt received grants of land in Manitoba:

By 1906, John Henry Froggatt was living in Winnipeg, and was working as a wireman for Ernest S. Harrison, an electrician who was sometimes also a farmer.

In 1911, the Froggatt family was living at 259 Isabel Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Thomas Froggatt was the president of the Canadian Western Electric Company; John Henry Froggatt was the vice-president of the “Canadian Western Electric Auto Company.”

By 1912, John Henry Froggatt was living at 2069 Yew Street in Vancouver. He was the manager of Canadian Western Electric Company. In 1913 and 1914, he was at 1869 Georgia Street.

By 1920, John was the manager of the Magnet Electric Company, and was living at 1705 Georgia Street.

John’s mother, Hannah, died in South Vancouver on December 11, 1927. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

By 1930, John and Thomas were living at 4946 Joyce Street in the Collingwood area of Vancouver. They were electrical contractors, doing business as the Magnet Electric Company.

Thomas Froggatt died in Vancouver on March 6, 1934. He was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby.

It appears that John Henry Froggatt never married. He died in Vancouver on March 13, 1953. He was buried in the North Vancouver Cemetery.
