Mitchell, Victor William (1864-1923)

Victor William Mitchell was a commission merchant for Mitchell Brothers and later for the E.B. Eddy Company. He lived at 810 Park Road (later called Lagoon Drive) from 1905 to 1918.

He was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, on January 23, 1864. His father was James Mitchell (1820-1906); his mother was Elizabeth Van Buskirk.

On August 15, 1893, in London, Ontario, he married Carolyn Evelyn Landor. She was born on April 27, 1866, in London, Ontario. Her father was Henry Landor (1815-1877), who was the first superintendent at the former London Asylum for the Insane; Carolyn’s mother was Mary Shaw (1829-after 1901).

Victor died in North Vancouver, British Columbia, on August 15, 1923. He was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Caroline died in Vancouver on June 15, 1936. She was buried in Ocean View Burial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Victor and Carolyn had one son.

Charles Frederick Cox Mitchell (1896-1916)

Charles Frederick Cox Mitchell was born in Vancouver on May 15, 1896. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He died while in service, on January 5, 1916. He was buried in Berks Cemetery Extension [http://www.cwgc.org/find-a-cemetery/cemetery/9102/BERKS%20CEMETERY%20EXTENSION], about 12.5 kilometres south of Ieper, Belgium (also known as Ypres: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ypres).
