1142 Chilco Street was on the northeast corner of Chilco Street and Pendrell Street. Doctor Thomas Haddow Wilson built this house in 1912, and he lived in it from 1913 until he died in 1927.

The Daily Building Record had a short article that described this house:
The architect was Lindsay E. Gordon. In 1912, he had an office at 65, 429 West Pender Street; he lived at 749 East 14th Avenue in Vancouver.
In the late 1920s, the house began to offer rental accommodation.
In 1930, the house was called “Chula Vista”, which is Spanish for “beautiful view.”
The house continued to be a rooming house until the 1950s.
In 1938, the owner made alterations to the house.
In 1950, a suite in the house was available for rent.
In 1955, the house was for sale.
In 1955, furnishings from the house were for sale.
In 1956, a new building called “Parkwood Apartments” appeared on the site, with an address of 1975 Pendrell Street. (The building name often appears as “Parkwood Manor.”)

“Handsome Bungalow for West End
The Dominion Const. Supply Co., Inc., Canada Life bldg. has been awarded the general contract for the erection of a frame bungalow at the corner of Chilco and Pendrell sts., for Dr. T.H. Wilson, which will cost approximately $7500.
The residence will be two and a half stories, with rough siding for the first floor, shingled exterior for the upper floors, with rough cast plaster gables. It will contain nine rooms and large reception hall; hardwood floors and beamed ceilings, fir panels, concrete basement, in which will be laundry, drying room, etc.; hot water heat, and every modern device are among the specifications. The excavation, begun yesterday, has been let to Lindberg & Lund, Metropole Hotel. The general contractors will not be ready for figures on any other of the minor contracts for about three weeks.”

Dr. Wilson had a 1907 Cadillac, registration #244. Sometime around 1912 he sold it to a man from the Fraser Valley (probably a day’s drive in the little one-cylinder car). The Cadillac still exists, in the same family, and is driven a few times a year.
