Dr. “Andrew A. Wilson” appeared in the Vancouver directory in 1910. He was living at 1086 Denman Street. It appears that this person was actually Albert Arthur Wilson. (He was sometimes called “A.A. Wilson” or “Arthur Wilson.”)

Family Background and Early Life

Albert Arthur Wilson was born on September 27, 1885, in Perth, Ontario (some sources say 1878). His parents were Albert Wilson (born about 1860) and Minnie Davidson (1857-1915). Albert Wilson, Senior was a cordwainer, which is a type of shoemaker. (Traditionally, a cordwainer makes shoes from new leather; a cobbler repairs shoes or makes shoes from old leather.)

Arthur studied medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Marriage to Lazell Anderson

On September 27, 1911, in Vancouver, Arthur married Electra Lazell Anderson, who was also a medical doctor. She was born in St. Thomas, Ontario about 1881. (She was sometimes called “Lazelle” or “E. Lazell.”) Her parents were William Dixon Anderson (1839–1892) and Jane Brett (1844–1921).

Lazelle had studied at the University of Toronto.

In 1904, Lazell attended the marriage of her sister, Ida, to William Archibald Porter Wood.

After the War

After their war service ended, Arthur and Lazell lived in England, where they continued to practice medicine.

  • Albert Arthur Wilson was in the British Medical Register in 1932, 1934, 1938, 1940 and 1945.
  • Electra Lazell Anderson Wilson appeared in the British Medical Register in 1924, 1926, 1938, and 1940.

However, their marriage ended not long after the end of the war. In 1919, Lazell petitioned for “restitution of conjugal rights,” which was then the normal legal remedy for desertion. In 1921, she petitioned for divorce.

Lazell did not re-marry. She died on November 25, 1942, in Salford, Lancashire, England. She had been living at 36 Broad Street in Pendleton, Salford.
