Boston, George Patrick (1885-1958)

George Patrick Boston was a bricklayer. He lived in an unnumbered house on the north side of Georgia Street, west of Denman Street, from 1900 to 1902.

He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on May 16, 1885. His father was Frank Boston (1847-1925); his mother was Maggie Flynn (1850-1909).

George appears to have been a pitcher for the Arnold and Quigley baseball team.

In 1903 and 1904, he was an employee of Vancouver Sash and Door. In 1905, he started to work on the B.C. Electric Railway trams.

One of the passengers who travelled regularly on the trams was Mary Taylor Williamson. She was born on Sea Island, in Richmond, British Columbia. Her father was William Williamson (1851-1931); her mother was Ann Jane Mackie (1860-1945). On May 1, 1908, George and Mary were married in Sea Island.

George continued to work for the B.C.E.R. until he retired in 1949.

George’s grandson recalls that George was known as the Candyman on the interurban train, because he always had wrapped candy in his pocket for the children.

George and Mary were guests of honour when the Steveston to Marpole interurban tram made its last run on February 28, 1958.

George died in Vancouver on April 13, 1958.

Mary died in Vancouver on September 13, 1974.

William James Boston

William James Boston was born in Vancouver on October 3, 1909. He was a conductor for the BC Electric Railway.

On October 22, 1938, in Vancouver, he married Wilma Frances Clarke. She was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on January 9, 1915. Her father was Edward Douglas Clarke; her mother was Alice Lambert. Wilma worked as a bookkeeper and clerk.

Wilma died in Vancouver on October 20, 1988.

William died in Vancouver on March 26, 1992.

 

George Joseph Robert Boston

George Joseph Robert Boston was born in Vancouver about 1914. He was working as a truck driver in 1936. On August 21, 1936, in Vancouver, he married Alma Mary Gosse. She was born in Vancouver about 1914. Her father was Frederick William Gosse; her mother was Gertrude Alice Gibbs.

George was living in Kitimat, British Columbia, in 1958. His marriage to Alma ended in divorce on October 8, 1959. He was living in Vancouver in 1974.

 

Evan Lloyd Burrard Boston

Evan Lloyd Burrard Boston was born in Vancouver on August 13, 1921. He became a teacher.

He did not marry. He was living in Vancouver in 1958 and 1974. He was living in an apartment at 1025 Gilford Street in Vancouver in 1975. He died in Vancouver on June 5, 1975.

 

Dorothy Mary Boston

Dorothy Mary Boston married George H. Cruickshank. She was living in North Surrey, British Columbia, in 1958, and in Richmond in 1975.
