Miller, William John (1877-1954)

William John Miller was a chauffeur and automobile salesman. He lived at 1180 Denman Street in 1913 and 1914. He may also have lived at 1876 Alberni Street in 1915.

He was born on June 10, 1877, in Cornhill, Northumberland, England. His father was John Miller. His mother was Christina Lindsay Jack.

He came to Canada about 1906, and shortly afterward he married Caroline Jane Bailey. She was born in England on January 5, 1880, and came to Canada about 1883. In 1901 she was living in Toronto and was working as a servant.

William and Caroline were married by about 1908. Their first daughter was born in British Columbia about 1908.

William may have been working as a taxi operator and living at 1459 West Georgia Street in 1912.

In 1913 and 1914, he was a chauffeur, and was living at 1180 Denman Street. In 1915, he was at 1733 Waterloo Street.

In September 1915, he enlisted to serve with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He said that his wife was living at 1876 Alberni Street.

By 1921, William and Caroline were living at the rear of 1279 Nicola Street. William was an automobile salesman. They had two daughters: Christina Dorothy Miller; and Doris Lilian Miller.

By 1942, William was working as a painter and was living at 2921 Francis Avenue in Los Angeles, California. He registered with the United States military draft. His contact person was Mrs. Glen Romesburg (his daughter, Dorothy), who was at 3770 Second Avenue in Los Angeles.

William died in Sacramento, California, on March 20, 1954. He was buried in East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.

Caroline died in Sacramento on May 13, 1967. She was buried in East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.

William and Caroline had the following children.

She married Glenn R. Romesburg, who was born in Horton, Kansas on May 31, 1909. His parents were Ralph Gillian Romesburg (1882-1968) and Minnie Mae Smarr.

In 1930, Glenn and Dorothy were living in Los Angeles, California. Dorothy was a stenographer at a lumber years. Glenn was not working.

In 1942, Glen and Dorothy Romesburg were living at 3970 Second Avenue in Los Angeles.

It appears that they moved to Sacramento, California, in 1946. Their daughter, Linda Lee Romesburg, drowned while visiting with her aunt, Doris.

Glenn died in Los Angeles, California on October 31, 1974.

Doris Lillian Miller

Doris Lillian Miller was born in British Columbia, probably in Vancouver, on January 25, 1912.
