She died a dignified death of her choice. She was born of parents Hazel and Irvin Carlson in Isle, Minnesota in 1924 and lived there until she went to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She was graduated from the University with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education in 1945. When Daniel Brant returned from World War II in 1946, Phyllis and Dan were married and took a three-month honeymoon bicycling from St. Paul, Minnesota to Milford, Utah where they both taught high school. She was divorced from Dan in 1968 after raising a family of three children, Peter, Susan and Bruce. She married Byrd Helligas in 1971 and thereby added two grown sons, Aron and Byrd, Jr., to the family. . . .”
