In 1914, the Vancouver Daily World published a short article describing John’s relationship to a young woman who was killed when the German Navy shelled  Hartlepool.

The article referred to “Miss May Watts,” one of 130 people who were killed in the attack. It appears that she was John’s sister, Amy, who sometimes called herself “Mary” or “May.”

Some sources indicate that he died in 1928, although there is no documentary information that confirms this.

No further information is available for him.
