In 1924, while Ellis and Ross were operating an ice cream parlor at this address, practical jokers staged a fictitious murder scene on the premises.

In 1934, “Miss Pauline Olsen” (Pauline Margareth Olsen) had a dancing studio at 2042 Beach Avenue. (She lived next door, at number 33 in Englesea Lodge, 2046 Beach Avenue.)

Pauline was born on May 18, 1914 in Plenty, Saskatchewan. Her parents were Niels Peter Olsen and Marie Pauline Dissing.

In 1935, Claude U. Whitsell opened “The Gym” at 1030 Hornby Street.

Dunc Williams operated a sporting goods department in connection with “The Gym.” Dunc Williams had another store at 2042 Beach Avenue.
